I suppose it's a very odd thing to brag about, but I attempted to give blood today, and my hemoglobin level was 14.4. I was so excited! That's the highest it's been in at least 10 years, and probably 20. Guess that little procedure I had about a year ago has solved the anemia problem for good! And I was able to do my first successful donation in four years.
(My dad, before he died, needed a lot of blood products. They kept him alive for six months. Six months more to go to a ball game, and paint pictures, and talk on the phone and say goodbye. The generous, selfless donations of many people helped us to have those six months with him. On behalf of my dad and my family, I thank you from the bottom of my heart if you've ever been a blood donor, or ever tried to give blood. Thank you.)
