Yesterday was such a beautiful fall day, I spent a good bit of it outside dealing with the gardens.
In the front yard I have a big border of annuals and a number of containers on my porch, and in the back is mostly perennials with two flowering trees, a couple of failed vegetable plants and a little rock garden. I had made it beautiful this year for my daughter's June graduation party (all yellows and purples), and then I pretty much couldn't be bothered to work on it the rest of the summer. But it was so pretty out, and I really needed to put it all to bed for the winter before it's brutal weather for working, so I got my tools and started in.
Ahem. There were lots of weeds. And dead sticks in all my containers.
However, once the weeds were gone the flowers still looked gorgeous, despite my neglect, and I couldn't pull them all up. So I cleaned up the beds and will let it bloom for a little longer. I picked the last perfect rose off the bush next to the driveway, and put it in a bud vase on the dining room table. Then last night, the cat knocked the vase over, and ate the flower. *Facepalm* No treats for Ashley this morning.
I wish I was good with posting pictures. You'll just have to imagine the lovely bright snapdragons and the little purple border and the spikes of blue flowers that I don't know what they are called. And I have some tomatoes on my plant still! (The squirrels ate all the rest. These are green but I'm going to get one, I swear!)
Happy peaceful Sunday, everyone. I'm going to give blood today, if they'll take me.
