Heroes Archive, totally OT svmadelyn April 1 2008, 04:44:43 UTC
(Sorry about commenting, but your email addy seems to be bouncing, so I thought I'd get you here.)

Hi everyone!

My name is Madelyn; I'm svmadelyn on LiveJournal. You're all getting this e-mail because you are a maintainer of a Heroes community on LJ. (I only selected a few communities rather than spam everyone. So if you know of someone who maintains a Heroes-oriented community who might be interested in what I'm about to ask, feel free to forward this email.)

I've been in the process of putting together an all-encompassing Heroes archive, and we're going to be ready to launch it pretty soon. It is looking pretty neat, if I do say so myself, and I want to make it a bit different from the regular fannish archives out there, so I've been planning out a few interesting ways to do that. I think it'll be a really great project, if it all comes together the way I am hoping.

We've used Automated Archive software, so that when the Organization for Transformative Works offers up their shiny new archive open-software code in August, we'll be able to do a one-click install and have an utterly fantastic archive-of-the-future type thing. :D - (For those of you without the slightest clue of what I'm rambling about, you can see here:http://transformativeworks.org/projects/archive.html#) Anyway, essentially all that I am saying is that this archive will eventually be offering all of those features as well.

Shortly, in April, I'm going to launch a sort of marketing campaign asking that everyone who has written a Heroes story pick their personal favorite story of their own to archive, as a way to just--make people aware that it's a resource that people are welcome to use, and to sort of bring the fandom together at a one-stop shop. :) (People will of course be welcomed and encouraged to archive their entire volume of work; but I don't want to overwhelm people right off.)

To that end, I'd very much welcome any input you'd have on the archive before it goes live, in order to make it the best resource it can possibly be. If you'd like to be a member of the Heroes archive focus group (wherein, you offer suggestions/input), please join the community, and I'll happily get you approved.

Since I'd really love for this to become a resource the entire fandom can use, I'd greatly appreciate any advice you have to give, and permission to link in your communities (should your userinfo prohibit it), when the time comes to launch it. If you have no interest in the focus group - totally fine! - please let me know if I'd be welcome to post in your community when the time comes. :D

Any questions/comments, please feel free to ask.

Best,
~Madelyn
