It was hardly a dignified position, he mused. The last of the Time Lords, sitting on the floor, back resting against the main control panel of the TARDIS. He rested his elbows on his knees and realized that he really didn’t give a fig about dignity. He felt old, broken and terribly brittle. The war had seen to that.
Then everything had changed the first time he met her. She had turned his entire world upside down and made the universe a bright, wonderous place again.
That’s what made it all so ridiculous. A Time Lord in love with a young girl who was so beautiful and strong it made him ache.
"Doctor? What's wrong?"
He opened his eyes, smilling brightly up at her. "Nothing," he lied easily. "Come on, you said you wanted to see something fantastic." Getting to his feet, he offered her his hand.
