Pain update!

I finally gave up on the walk-in clinic. I wasn't getting any answers, and I wasn't getting any pain killers. I toyed with the idea of taking a week off of work and just resting my shoulder. That would be expensive to pull off, and really, if I had decent pain killers, I could work somewhat normally.

So I decided to try my family doctor in Hamilton. I don't have a very high opinion of him, but I thought that he might at least be able to give me some Tylenol 3's. The back up plan being that if he doesn't, I know someone in Hamilton who can give me some.

Well, it turns out my doctor is on vacation for two weeks. *sigh* The person who answered the phone at the doctor's office suggested going to the Urgent Care facility.

So I did.

And I'm glad!

I now know what the actual problem is: it's a rotator cuff injury.

The solution: pain meds (check!), anti-inflammatories (check!), and physiotherapy (crap!)

It turns out physio isn't covered by OHIP anymore. I've written to my MPP to see why, and to ask if there are any options for low-income people to get physio (maybe a physiotherapy school, or something). In the meantime I've Googled the needed exercises.

The Urgent Care people also put in a claim to the WSIB. I'm not sure what that's about, to be honest. I was in a great deal of pain when they mentioned it, and was sleep deprived. I hope whatever it is that it doesn't screw the Archive. It's not their fault I fell. If it's anyone's fault, it's UofT or the city of Toronto for not clearing the snow properly. (And they *could* have. This wasn't one of those times when removing the snow was that difficult... not like this weekend, for example!)

The pain meds are interesting. I'm taking Tramacet, which is fairly new to Canada, I think. It seems to have odd side effects; I'm a bit dizzy (no big deal), and I seem to be hearing things (quite disconcerting), and I didn't sleep well last night ("side effects may include drowsiness" my ass).

Now I'm stuck in Hamilton because of the snow. Not a huge deal, really. Given the side effects I've been experiencing, I wouldn't have wanted to be home alone the first night. I keep reminding myself that the meds are *working*, and well!

I'm ending this post with a picture from my parents' backyard. OMGWTFBBQ?!
