[Goong S episode 20][FINAL]
Si Yon recalls when Joon told her that he liked it best when he was young and didn't know anything, when he could just have fun and was happy. Joon flashes back to the time when his father says Joon must be his son no matter what, the time when Soon Yi says she cannot be with him, and the time when Soon Yi tells him she does not wish to see him anymore. Si Yon enters calling for Joon.
The queen's mother says this is not the time to discuss who will rise to the throne however the queen's aide says it is important, especially since some council members are calling for the queen to step down (?). This faction seems to be led by Joon's father, and the aide says the citizens are also distrustful of the queen. The queen tells her aide to tell the council that she will announce who will get the crown.
Joon asks his father if Si Yon died because of him. His father says that Joon is very close to being the definite next in line to the throne. Joon asks if his father feels no remorse for the death of Si Yon, who followed all his orders and was loyal to him. Joon's father merely tells him to take care of his body, since it's not good for the next in line to be in the hospital for a long time.
Hoo and Soon Yi are talking with the queen's other cousin (is he her cousin?) Hoo asks him if Joon becomes the next in line, then does Hoo have to get out of the palace. He says according to the rules, that's how it is. Hoo apologizes for not doing better and says he is disappointed too, because as he worked hard for each task, he really wanted to gain the crown. But he says while he is disappointed in one hand, if he does get out of the palace, then he wants to marry Soon Yi. Hoo and Soon Yi look at Hoo's father's portrait. Hoo says his father looks like his uncle. Soon Yi said she thought she'd always be at the prince's quarters. Hoo says he's happy that he can be with Soon Yi and he says they will live happily. He says he wants to live like a regular person, who doesn't live with greed for what he could have been as a royal.
The queen's mother is at Hoo's room. She says she heard he went to Joon's father. She says she already warned him that if he continued to disobey her she would use her powers. She demands to know if he wants to revenge her for his mother. He says he wants to be with Soon Yi and isn't planning anything else. He asks her to look at them with a more open mind since he can't rise to the throne anymore. He says he doesn't want to disobey her any longer. She walks out and sees Han Sang Goong, who wants to ask her to lift the ban that she placed on Soon Yi. Han Sang Goong says she knows why the queen's mother is worried about Hoo and Soon Yi, because it resembles Hoo's parents relationship. Han Sang Goong uses the words that the queen's mother used to persuade the court of Hoo's parents' relationship back then. It goes something like, two people who having feelings for each other cannot be separated so easily, and if they are separated, it will lead to a bad ending for everyone (I think I missed something there, but I'll leave it to the subbers to translate it perfectly.)
Soon Yi's friend says just because Soon Yi is holding the stress-free bears, the problem won't go away. She says there's no problem with Hoo now since he can't sit on the throne but then says the court probably will not accept her, since they went as far as to stop her attendance from the academy.
Joon's mother says the Na-Ins seem to act more respectfully now that Joon is the next-in-line to the throne. Joon asks her if she's that happy and she says of course, and she says she and her husband has been looking forward to this day. Joon asks her if she thinks he has the right to be the crown prince. His mother says he has the ability and Joon says how can he be the crown prince when he doesn't have the royal blood. She asks if he met Cho Sang Gi and says he has the wrong idea. She says Joon is his father's son no matter what and Joon says his father told him the same thing. Joon's mother seems shocked. She approaches Joon's father and asks how he could tell such a lie to Joon. He says he already knew of the time when his wife loved another man. She says it was true that she needed comfort from someone who was warmer but she says Joon is his son. He says he already knows that he cannot have a child, and he cannot believe her since he knows it is a lie.
Joon has given Hoo the evidence material, with a simple request to keep Joon's parents' dignity. Hoo goes to see Joon's parents and says he'll give them time to apologize. Joon's father sounds angry. Hoo says he is doing this to keep a promise with someone and says he will not let what they did known to the public. Joon's mother asks if he has evidence. Joon's father says they have nothing to do with Hoo's parents' case. Hoo says he understands and they will soon be repaid for their harm on his parents. Joon's father says truth and justice can be stamped out by power and Hoo disagrees; he says while they may be trampled for a short while, they cannot be stamped down by power for a while. Joon's father suspects that Hoo knows something and says his eyes look different. Joon's mother says Hoo would have gone to the queen beforehand and says Hoo is probably faking it.
Joon says up to now he has lived how his father wanted him to live but after he met Soon Yi, that wall started to break down. He says he was too busy looking after his feelings to care about others. He was in pain so he didn't think about how Soon Yi felt. He says he wanted to do so much things for her but he didn't end up doing anything for her. He says he will stop now, and not go further. He says this time its for himself, and says he won't forget the many things that Soon Yi taught him.
Sae Ryung says she really wished for Hoo to be the crown prince. Hoo says he knows and says he was always thankful and apologetic to Sae Ryung. She says they're really different. She wonders if she could have had a better chance if Hoo had started out living at the palace, or if she had been Hoo's friend from elementary school like Soon Yi. Hoo gives her an airplane ticket to New York. He says he always felt that she really wanted to go and see her mother. He says she shouldn't hide her feelings anymore and should tell her mother that she missed her. She asks if they can be good friends. Hoo responds yes.
Soon Yi meets with Hoo's uncle. He says she must have been shocked because he called her all of a sudden and she says it's fine. He then says Soon Yi resembles Hoo's mother. (It seems he gave her the opportunity to study abroad here, although nothing is shown.)

He says during the tasks he used improper methods. The queen asks if that is true. Her mother says this place is not a place to say things thoughtlessly. Joon says he knows and asks the queen to change the decision. He says the reason he is confessing his wrongdoings is because he saw how truthful Hoo was and thinks Hoo is the right person to claim the throne. The queen asks Joon once again if what he said is true. Joon's father tries to interrupt but the queen says he must not interrupt. Joon says it is true and that he recommends Hoo for the crown prince position.
Joon's parents are called to the queen's room regarding Hoo's parents' case. Hoo plays a cassette tape that has recorded a conversation. Here, Joon's parents and another man talk about how Hoo's mother will be the easiest person to blame and she will be exiled from the palace. Hoo walks out and meets Joon. He says Joon's parents' dignity will remain, as nothing about them will be leaked out to the media, and only Hoo's mother's dignity will be restored. Hoo thanks Joon and asks why he gave it up. Joon says he couldn't go that way and says Hoo is different because Hoo's fate was already decided long time ago.

He says she must never forget that in the future. Hoo says nothing changes because he is crown prince; all that needs is for their hearts is to be the same and all she needs to do is to follow him. Soon Yi says she believes in him because he's so cool. Hoo jokingly says he has no faults. Soon Yi says she has to go to the bathroom but she actually leaves by taxi. Hoo goes looking for her but doesn't find her. He finds a note in his pocket from her. It says: "Do you know? I really liked you for a long time. I remember the time we first bumped into each other. You were busy fooling around but I thought at the time when we grow up, I will marry you for sure. Maybe that why no matter what you did, I liked you. I wanted to make you pretty things, and share my lunch with you, and do your homework for you. I thought it was my young mind, but it grew to this much. But first loves don't come true. I want to stop here, and not be greedy. Because I was very happy." Hoo asks Soon Yi's friend where Soon Yi is. She says Soon Yi is going overseas and left 30 minutes ago. Soon Yi also wrote "thank you for becoming a person I can watch anytime. I'll always cheer for you."
The queen's mother thanks Sae Ryung's father for his help. She says they should work on Sae Ryung's and Hoo's engagement. Sae Ryung requests for the engagement to be cancelled. She says she has realized that she has been too greedy and she knows now that she is unworthy to be Hoo's partner. Sae Ryung's father is furious. She asks if that's how he treated her mother. She says she was always angry at her mother but now she knows how she must've felt. Her mother must've been sick of how her father could sacrifice his family members as if it was nothing. She says if she finds another that she loves, she doesn't want to make the same mistake again.
Joon bids his father a farewell. It seems he's leaving somewhere. Joon's father stops him and says he realizes he has made a mistake. Joon is his real son. Joon's mother appears and says her husband has spent the entire time suspecting his own wife and son and wonders if there is another person who is so pitiful and pathetic. She says she lied to Cho Sang Gi because she wanted Joon to have the evidence material, to protect her son. She says she can do anything to protect her son. She says they will have to repay for their sins but there is no repayment for suspecting his own family like he has.
Hoo receives a letter from Cho Sang Gi. He apologizes for betraying Hoo because he was won over by a simple lie. He says he has decided to live overseas and says he will forever remember his sin.
Hoo works part time at a pizza place, it seems he does this as a royal who also wants to mingle with the regular people. It seems Hoo's friend is the owner and the store is doing very well. It seems that Cho Sang Gi is at Dubai. Hoo leaves because he is busy.
Hoo seems to be working on a project (or heading a project) that deals with how to design more efficient cities, such as putting hospitals near elderly people's homes.
It seems that the queen's male aide is leaving the palace. Si Jong Gwan will rise to his place and the queen's mother says while it is good for her to rise up in position, she will never have time to get married. It seems there's problems with the council. The queen seeks out Joon's father for help. He asks why she is asking him after she knows what evil deeds he did in the past. She says it's because he doesn't want to see the royal court fall apart either.
Soon Yi is working as a translator to a foreign ambassador. She tells him how to say 'thank you' after she welcomes him and also 'you are beautiful, Pye-Ha', which seems to please the Korean royals.
Hoo says he saw Soon Yi to Han Sang Goong. He says even though time has passed, he still remembers so clearly. Han Sang Goong says some things are like that and says in that case he should follow his heart. He is shocked since she's always saying to uphold the court rules and protocol. She says he is a human before he is a crown prince. She says the queen's mother will not accept readily but he must follow his heart. I don't know what she whispered in his ear but Hoo seems shocked.
It seems that Hoo came to the exhibition a day early (to catch Soon Yi). They're walkign together and Soon Yi accidentally bumps into a little kid, who drops his gameboy thing and says it's broken. Hoo says it isn't and fixes it for him. It seems that he is part of a class, and the teacher is Sae Ryung. The two women talk about how they're surprised at each other. Soon Yi notices how the two speak so comfortably and says they must have all gotten really close. Sae Ryung asks if she's jealous and she knows no.
Hoo and Soon Yi are having tea and Hoo asks when she's going back and she says tomorrow, in formal speech. She says she has to go and trips. He asks if she's okay and she says she's fine, in informal speech now. They're sitting at the beach a there's a voice over of a boy and girl talking. The boy asks the girl if it's her first time at the beach and the girl says it's so pretty. She says she wants to come here for her honeymoon and the boy asks who will marry her. The girl says she will never marry him and says she already has someone in mind. He asks who that is and she says she will marry the secret santa who gave her the stress-free bear. At the car, they see that Joon is famous as a performer. They go to see him. Joon says Soon Yi did well, even though she must have been lonely. He says Hoo was very lonely too.
Hoo says he wondered why she ran away from him. She says he wouldn't have gone along if he knew. He says they shouldn't talk about how she's a civilian and he's a royal. He says he tried to forget her for the past 3 years. He thought he succeeded but after he saw her again, he realized that was impossible. He asks for them to start over again. She says it's not that easy and she says she's claiming her own place at her work now and she wants to do well.
The next day, they're touring the exhibition and Soon Yi sees all the stress-free bears. Hoo is working at his office when Si Jong Gwan introduces the new person who will take her old spot. It's Soon Yi. She has been recommended by the queen to this position. Soon Yi says Hoo seems to fit in well. She thought alot about what was the right decision and decided to accept the queen's suggestion. She's worried that she might be a distraction to him. He says he wants to show her something. Stress-free bears rule!! He says the world is filled with worries. He says the only worry he has is losing his love but says he thinks that will be solved now. He will use the method that Han Sang Goong taught him.
Thoughts/impression: The ending was very well done. I'm glad Hoo kept his throne and I'm equally happy that Sae Ryung and Joon could solve their problems without any bad feelings. Last of all, I'm happiest that Soon Yi and Hoo can have a future. I'm sad that the drama had such low ratings but I applaud the actors and staff for putting a great work nevertheless. I really want a stress-free bear now, though, I wonder if they sell them somewhere? ;-)

Thank you everyone for coming to my humble journal and reading my summaries - I really appreciate your kinds words and I'm very happy to know I helped alot of people, even if my summaries aren't top-quality. I've decided to help B.O.N. Funsubs sub Witch Amusement and if you're looking for a fun drama to watch, I hope you will give that series a chance. I'm thinking of doing summaries that that series, although nothing is certain yet.
