I wore a nice dress, nothing too funky. John and Michelle were both right; a lot of people in LA don't dress up for the opera. I'm glad I did, tho, coz it made it feel even more special

Glad to hear that you enjoyed Madama Butterfly. I like Puccini's works though. One thing that has always humored me about opera, granted I do enjoy it, is that the surtitles that are flashed above the stage are really simple and you'll have it read before the singers finish singing it. *giggles*
Time certainly flies by when I'm not paying attention to it. I didn't realize that the Anaheim show was so close! *laughs*
[My personal fave Puccini opera is Turandot, and depsite is dismal theme, it's actually a happy opera. Surprised the hell out of me. LOL]
Ha! During an intermission, I asked the couple next to me about the surtitles, coz it seemed to me that Italian shouldn't take that much longer to sing than English so I thought maybe they weren't putting every word, just the main idea. The couple said yes, that's how it was usually done, but sometimes they do put it word for word, but they don't like that coz then you spend so long reading you might miss little details onstage.
I hope you're enjoying your couple of days at home!
When you have the chance (and in the meantime pick up a CD or video), you might try Mozart's Die Zauberflote - The Magic Flute. It's funny, has a happy ending, and is in German. One of my favorites.
