It’s been a long time since I really saw the sun. Some vampires dance with it, in and out of shadow, teasing the flames. Others cower, nocturnal and terrified, like small furry creatures avoiding the light.
Darla and I, we weren’t afraid. But we believed the day was beneath us. Found and lived a night life with relish, as though it were our choice to live lightless.
Since Darla, I have been a half-light man. Grey is the colour.
The sun rises. It is at the window. My extinction approaches. It terrifies me. But the sun is so beautifully bright.
