Episode in Focus: A Hole in the World

Aug 11, 2013 18:00

Next week we are looking at A Hole in the World. So from Monday your time, get sharing whatever you have to share on this week's wrenching new Episode in Focus. Meta, vids, art, poems, fic, whatever you got, we want it.

Episode in Focus: A Hole in the World
Are you ready?

Bet you're not. After the laughter of Smile Time, and the intellectual/philosophical debates of Why We Fight, this week we get nakedly emotional. There's an object of power, there's a moment's carelessness, there's a terrible thing unleashed. There's a death.

There's a hole in the world. And we didn't know it. But after this episode, we may never forget it. All the power of Wolfram and Hart, all the strength of Angel and Spike, all the intellect of Fred, and Wesley, all Gunn's connection to the Senior Partners and sometimes, it doesn't do a bit of good.

Though we also start with one of the most famous setpiece Spike and Angel arguments of all time. Cavement or astronauts? We'd love to hear your thoughts.

Key Quote
WESLEY
Whatever it is that's happening, we will stop it, I swear to you.

FRED
I have to work.

WESLEY
You have to lie down.

FRED
I am not-I am not the damsel in distress. I am not some case. I have to work this. I lived in a cave for 5 years in a world where they killed my kind like cattle. I am not going to be cut down by some monster flu. I am better than that! (softly) But I wonder... how very scared I am.

WESLEY
I swear on my life, we will stop this, but you must be back in bed. That's where I need you to fight.

FRED
Like I'm 6 years old? (collapses, but Wes is there to catch her) This is a house of death.
(Wes stands her up and holds her; she looks over his shoulder to the source book he brought with him)
That can call up any book you need?

WESLEY
Every one.

FRED
Then bring it. Take me home.
