There was a Tales of the Vampyres comic story in which a slayer kills a vampire she thinks is preying on an old, sick man. But then the old man says, "He was my father." I like stories wherein the vamps are shown to be complex people. I wish we'd seen more of Lawson, as seemed to have a lot of philosophical angst.
For me, one of the true attractions of the Buffy and Angel 'verses is that almost everybody who walks across the screen can have a story told about them. They're that interesting. I love the minor characters (and their families).
