Triple drabble goodness

It's possible I'm addicted to this - definite withdrawal symptoms were noticed. Eep.

Meanwhile, here are three snippets for ep#5.

The funeral home at Sunnydale suffers badly this episode. But surely it can’t be the first time?

Title: First Gravedigger’s Tale
Character: Mortuary Attendant X (not technically a gravedigger I know, indulge my Chaucer-Shakespearean fantasy, please)
Rating: PG-13
Author: Bruttimabuoni
A/N: Written for episode 5 ‘Never Kill a Boy on the First Date’ at Phantasmagoria

I tell you kid, you see a lot of weird shit in this line of work. And this line of work in this town? Seriously, weird shit’s the least of your problems.

You ever tried to explain a closed coffin to grieving parents? When you know damned well their son’s not inside? Not anymore, that is. Maybe ashes if they’re lucky. Better to say nothing.

Yesterday we took in five dead souls. Today we find a kid and some crazy jailbird gone. Already dead, now lost as well.

Down two more unburied corpses. End of year accounting’s gonna be hell.

What about Owen? How does he feel about being a Scoobie Don’t?

Title: Fulfilment
Character: Owen
Rating: G
Warning: Character death
A/N: Written for episode 5 ‘Never Kill a Boy on the First Date’ at Phantasmagoria.

Vampires are real! I knew it! Dangerous thrills sear through him, making him buzz and laugh with the awesomeness of life and destiny.

But the door slams. He is not of the elect. Just one delirious perilous night‘s memory.

He watches the comrades in arms thereafter, but takes no part. He’s no class protector. At the senior prom he wins ‘Most likely to write the Great American Novel.’ He smiles at the thought, but it doesn’t touch his deepest ambition.

He dies at his graduation, charging the giant thrashing snake. He has a fine headstone. His mother visits on Thursdays.

======================

And thirdly: it’s tough at the top, even if you’re as fabulous as Cordelia Chase.

Title: The Battle of Cordy’s Brain
Character: Cordelia
Rating: G
A/N: Written for prompt 2; episode 5 ‘Never Kill a Boy on the First Date’ at Phantasmagoria.

Too old?

Too young?

Too much hair gel (Seriously. Some things can’t be overlooked).

Didn’t want him anyway?

No. MUCH better...

“So, that Buffy girl? Her ex just showed. Some issue about a pustulant rash.”

It’s not true and soon they’ll know it’s not true. But right now that isn’t important.

What counts when you’re the reigning Queen Bee (and especially C) is getting your retaliation in first, and never getting that despising look of pity. Tomorrow this will be forgotten, unless I give them a reason to remember the humiliation.

Not on my watch. Big smile, and move on.

105 never kill a boy on the first date, fiction
