*rolls eyes*
So Kelly FINALLY shows up today at the lodge, looking really apologetic and everything. Hmph. Deserter. Anyway, after a zillion apologies and everything, and an attempt to make it look like we were having fun, *grumble* she finally got down to the point she was aiming at- that she wanted to try for Pet Spotlight, for no good reason except that she wanted to. AND THEN SHE PICKED ME! *grumble grumble grumble* It's not like I'm going to win or anything, but here's my entry...
The judges sit in annoyed silence as they wait for the next Pet Spotlight auditioner to come on stage. It's been at least three minutes since the last pet, and there is absolutely no reason for a delay, so there is no reason for the neopet to not come up right then and there. The judges are all starting to murmer that they might as well pass on to the next pet, when a scuffling noise is suddenly heard behind the curtains, and a Christmas shoyru is pushed to the front by a pair of yellow paws. The shoyru, clutching "Cartography For Beginners" in her hands, looks over her shoulder with a glare.
"WHAT! I was busy READING, you know, there's absolutely no reason for you to-"
Looking forward again, the shoyru quickly blanches as she notices the impatient judges in front of her. Gulping and trying to hide the book behind her back, she grins nervously at the annoyed audience.
"OH, um, hi there! My name is Fantabellan, though you can call me Fanta, and I'm here to audition for the Pet Spotlight. Um, um..."
Obviously unprepared, Fanta looks around nervously, not noticing when the hood of her Santa coat falls down onto her shoulders, making her look even more unprepared. Wings fluttering back and forth, she appears to force herself to look forward, grinning at the judges uncertainly.
"Um... I guess I'm supposed to tell you about myself, aren't I? Well, I love reading, as you probably noticed, and I like writing too. I've got a journal that my owner gave me a while ago, and I write in it a lot. It sorta helps me express myself, and it's pretty calming too."
Gaining confidence, Fanta suddenly flashes a genuine grin at the judges, appearing to relax. As she continues to talk, her voice grows stronger and more confident as well.
"I also love pulling pranks on people, especially on my family. It's really fun, you know! All you have to do is put together a few items, like, say, a glass of cold water with some red scorchipepper sprinkled in and an icy hot berry or two. Then you need the PERFECT situation, say, when your owner comes home from a hard day of earning neopoints, and says she wants a glass of water. You can give her the water, make her go crazy from the heat, fool her into thinking the icy hot berry will only cool her down... and this is only one of the cool things you can do! I think that one of the main reasons I love pranking people is simply the expressions. I NEVER get tired of seeing my sister's face when she just had a few cans of neocola poured over her head..."
Fanta seems to have excited herself, and is now bouncing up and down while talking with insane speed. Growing more and more hyper by the minute, she starts wildly motioning around with her hands as she speaks. The judges appear to be worried by this new, unpredictable behavior.
"And THEN there are water balloons! Oh man, are those things FUN! Filled with anything at all, they're just so easy to carry around and then throw at people! And you can catapult them, an' get your petpet to hide them in hard-to-find places so your owner won't take them away, and... and... AND THROW THEM AT PEOPLE!"
With this last exclamation, Fanta suddenly pulls out a large water balloon from one of her pockets, and throws it at the judges, laughing all the time. After peering closely at their surprised and angry faces, she suddenly runs off the stage and out the door, giggling all the way. Behind her, the now-soaking-wet judges knew that this was one shoyru they'd never forget.
