September has been a quiet but pleasant month, at least so far, and it's already September 24th, so how much can go wrong?
Just typing that is like tempting fate!
I continue to try to walk outdoors every day which, for me, mostly means walking in circles to avoid the worst of the traffic in my area. Happily, these are also pretty walks.

hee! Mystery purchase! Is it for under Smoke's water and food dishes? Under a plant? It looks fairly sturdy - what it made of? Maybe that will be a clue as to its purpose?
City of Bones
I have that in my TBR pile - I should add it to my kindle so that I actually read it!

Excellent suggestions! I don't think I planned to use it under a plant but, in fact, right now I am. Whatever its usage, it is quite sturdy and should be around for years.
I'm still plugging away at Barbara Tuchman's "The Proud Tower:" Europe and the U.S. in the twenty years that preceded WWI. I've read 70% of it and am strangely reluctant to pause and zip through something lighter and shorter before resuming. That's my usual pattern, but for some reason I don't understand, I don't want to do that this time.
I need to put in some daylight hours reading instead of always picking the damn book up after dinner. I'm too easily distracted by the TV then. DanSee

Every so often I will be in the middle of a perfectly fine book, and something I *really* want to read is released and I might decide to consume that before coming back to my current book. But I really try not to do that.
It might be different if I was reading something deep and nonfictiony - those fall more under the category of "textbooks" for me - and I can totally cheat on those :D
