Friday, 12 March 2021: A busier-than-usual week.

Which is not to say I've gone wild and crazy but I did go...

...to p.t. on Tuesday, my second session.
...had a Zoom session with a representative of Blue Cross about my general health on Wednesday.
...on Thursday I saw David Horowitz, my PCP, for a regular, biannual office visit,
...and, today, got my second Moderna vaccination.

I can't remember another four straight days in the past year where I had contact with the outside world. When I thought about it beforehand, I felt daunted, but in actuality I wasn't. I enjoyed every encounter.

My p.t. is in the gym at 3737 Market Street, and one of its daunting elements was arranging a Lyft both ways. Perhaps Lyft drivers are getting better at finding their rides, because both trips, back and forth went smoothly. I did not have call either driver and talk them to my location. My p.t. session also went well. I like my therapist: Ben listens to me and responds to my requests. I need to increase my walking, but the pain in my left knee sometimes makes me have to rest after walking only a short time. Ben gave me two stretches that, while they didn't completely vanquish all the pain, they reduced it to an easily ignorable level. Ben doesn't know it yet, but next Tuesday we're going to work on the pain I get at my waist. I'll bet he has a stretch for that, too.

Wednesday's Zoom session was fun, although there's a limit to how thorough a physical exam can be via Zoom. Yvonne did not take my blood pressure or a sample of my blood. Nevertheless, we managed to fill my whole hour with her as she was easily distracted from examining my tongue (I held it up to the camera on my desktop) into discussing Life As We Lead it now-a-days.

My session with Horowitz on Thursday involved two more Lyft rides which, again, went well but do make me apprehensive. Nevertheless, I was glad to have my blood pressure measured (135/75) and my pulse taken (70). Both are good numbers meaning that my meds are continuing to work, not surprisingly. Horowitz put me on amiloride and Prandin back in the 90's and now, 25 years later, the same dosages continues to do their job.

I capped off a productive week by getting my second dose of the Moderna Covid-19 vaccine today at Presby, and once again the visit went like clockwork. They route you through the process...filling out your paper work, checking your eligibility, waiting for your turn for the shot, then sitting long enough to allow any reaction to manifest...keeping you at a six-foot distance from everyone else as you move from station to station except for medical workers who have to approach you closely; i.e., the person giving you the injection or checking your reaction. I choked up a little when the shot was administered, knowing how close I now was to safety. I wish all here get to experience the same feeling soon.

What was especially nice about today's excursion was that John took me to Presby, waited for me, then took me home, so I got to visit with him en route. On March 27th, the vaccine should reach maximum effectiveness, and then I can visit, carefully, with him and Pam. OMG,yes! FanSee
