Yesterday was a Big Day.
I graduated from physical therapy. For the second time, John went with me for a session that turned out to be all about strengthening my legs. Lots of leg lifts, done lying down: on my back, on my left side, on my right side, on my front. I also walked on the treadmill without holding on for ten minutes and negotiated one of Christina's patented obstacle courses which I love. It all ended up with Christina urging me to resume walking outdoors again...not just within and between the four buildings of my apartment complex...and telling me I am welcome to come back for a refresher session of three or four appointments. The latter made me very happy. I know that even with John's encouragement...not to say, nagging...I'll be slacking off in a couple months, if not sooner. I shall definitely go back in December or January, if not sooner.
My legs are somewhat sore today, with my right knee in particular feeling a little slippy: as though it might give out on me. That's an old, old problem which, while it's deteriorated a bit in the last couple of decades, is still nothing I would take to a doctor. I will discuss it with John when I see him for another session on Thursday. (It's only Christina I've graduated from.) For today only, no more exercises and no outdoor walk, either.
In the afternoon, my daughter-in-law, Pam, and her niece, Juliet, came over for a swim.
Taken just before it started to rain at 5:00 p.m.
Pam and Juliet. I can bring in one guest for free plus anybody 16 or younger. Juliet is 11.
This is only my third time at the pool this summer, mainly because I'm not keen on going by myself. If I'm going to stir my stumps at all and leave my apartment, I feel I should go to the gym. That I've been doing at least twice a week, sometimes more. FanSee
