Earth Day

Apr 22, 2016 22:31

Not only is tonight the first night of Passover, but today was Earth Day. In honor of the occasion, I thought I'd show you a few pictures of my little patch of the Earth.

Shortly after I moved into my house, some thirty years ago, I planted a spindly little maple with a root ball not much bigger than a large serving platter. It lived, surprisingly, and thrived. Today it is almost up to my second story window.

Its leaves will soon turn green, but in the meantime, it's lovely, isn't it?

The best view of the little yards in our six-house development is from my second floor window. For the three 'front'houses, like mine, you are seeing our back yards. For the three 'back' houses, you are looking at their little entryway yards.

Overlooking our yards is a former church, transformed by a lengthy, contentious rehab into a huge, gorgeous house. I think there is room for two of our smaller houses inside George and Emilio's mansion, with no crowding. They seem very happy there.

Back at home, my bluebells bloomed. I know you'll be relieved, rocketjava. I got impatient and worried, waiting for them, but now I've decided they were right on time.

Once the bluebells are done blooming, the leaves will wither away, giving the hostas room to spread out. FanSee
