The Big Day
If all goes well tomorrow, 10 April, will be It: the first night Samantha, Razor, Ziva and I will sleep in our renovated house.
Our belongings have already started coming home. Yesterday our electronics were returned from storage. Tomorrow our furniture and other belongings -- books, knickknacks, pictures -- will be delivered, and Comcast will come to activate and reconfigure our cable/internet service. Cable in the living room, second floor front bedroom (my bedroom), and third floor bedroom (Samantha's bedroom); no more cable in the second floor rear room (my office). Wireless throughout the house, with the modem and router in my office.
On Monday, all our fabric belongings will be returned from storage: our clothes, a set of curtains, bedding, etc.
If tomorrow goes as planned and particularly if Comcast moves our service from the condo to our house, then Samantha and I will pack up the kitties and all their gear and, after almost five months, we'll all sleep in our beds in our house.
Samantha and I are wondering whether the cats will recognize their old home. The house has been repainted, top to bottom, and new flooring has been installed in the living room, dining room, and my office. It should smell completely different and the flooring will of course be a radical change from carpeting. The usual scents of our little family will be missing, too, or faint and muddled with those of the moving men.
We expect Razor to be nonchalant about the change of domicile and Ziva to freak out. That was their pattern when we moved them to a Residence Inn after the fire and then to the condo. FanSee
