Dimitri stepped through the door and walked across the room to the elders. To be in the presence of the elders was an extraordinary feeling; Dimitri could feel the power surging through the room. As he looked at each of the three elders, Dimitri couldn’t help but wonder how old the elders really were.
“That is a question that shall always remain unanswered Dimitri.”
“I’m sorry sir. I was not meaning to be rude.”
“We know” spoke another elder. “We just thought we would clarify that for you. We need your mind to fully absorb what we have to tell you.”
“But sir, I have not yet told you why I’m here.”
“Yes, and you need not tell us” spoke the third elder. “We can see everything that is in your mind, and Dimitri, please call me Mataeo.”
“Yes Mataeo, thank you”
“This is Isaiah to my right and Lucas to my left. Now that we are all introduced, let’s discuss the matter at hand. Please have a seat.”
Dimitri walked over and sat in a deep cherry wood chair. When he was seated and comfortable, Isaiah began to speak.
“Back when we were first created, there were rumors of women who were fated to be the soulmates of vampires. It is said that these women are hard to control with your mind and it is almost impossible to wipe out their memory.” These women will be the only ones able to satisfy the extreme passion that vampires need to express while making love.

As the three elders continued to tell the legend of these women, Arianna was sleeping fitfully in her bed. She had woken up several times from some very bizarre dreams. She couldn’t remember what they were - just that they were like nothing she had ever dreamt before. The last time she woke up, it had taken a while to calm back down. She finally drifted back to sleep around midnight.

Meanwhile, Dimitri continued to listen to the elders’ story. He learned there are certain women fated to be with vampires, and each woman matched by destiny to a certain vampire. It is these women - and only these women - who can reproduce a vampire child. Dimitri was in shock. He had heard of born vampires, but there hadn’t been any in centuries.
When a child vampire is born, they are not actually vampires yet. They continue to grow and develop as a normal child, until age 18 when the child becomes a full vampire.
“Dimitri,” said Lucas. “We need this woman. It has been so long since we have seen or even heard of one such as her.”
“But Lucas,” started Dimitri, “I….”
“We know. You have doubts about involving her in your life. We need you to do this Dimitri, for all of our people.”
“What about Celeste? How am I supposed to handle that?”
The elders looked at each other. They seemed to be conversing, but they must have been speaking directly into each other’s minds. Dimitri wondered what secrets about Celeste they were keeping. Then the elders turned back to him.
“We could take the child, Dimitri.”
“No. I can’t abandon her like that. I will see what I can do about Arianna.”
The elders looked at each other and nodded.
“Okay, Dimitri. Just remember, talk to her first and establish at least a slight level of trust. Do not turn her until it is completely her choice.”
“What if she never chooses to be with me? What do I do? Do I force her? Every time I am around her by body and mind want to posses every inch of her. How can I control that?
“No, there will be no need to force her. She will choose to be with you. It is her destiny. As for the incredible state of arousal you feel around her, well that will only be satisfied when you posses her soul, mind and body. Now go home and check on Celeste. It is almost morning and I fear she has gotten into some trouble.”
Dimitri left the elders’ house and headed home. It was always unsettling to be around somebody that knew so much, someone that could see someone’s every thought and fear. Dimitri thought about that last thing Mataeo said about Celeste.
Trouble, he thought. What kind of trouble could Celeste have gotten into?
Dimitri needed to get home fast. The feeling of urgency continued to grow stronger. Dimitri picked up speed and was home in no time. When he stepped inside, he smelled the sweet aroma of blood in the air. He started towards Celeste’s room, but stopped. She wasn’t in her room. He could hear her down the hall in his room. As he neared his bedroom door, the smell of blood grew stronger. He opened the door to his room and stopped.
“Celeste! What have you done?!”
“Dimitri!” Exclaimed Celeste, where were you? I got so board, so I went out to feed and that’s when I found him. I can keep him right Dimitri?”
“No Celeste, you can’t keep him. I can’t believe you would even do this.”
Dimitri walked over to the bed. The sheets were covered in blood and there, lying in the center of it all, was a small boy. He was maybe 11 years old. Celeste had almost completely drained the poor boy’s body. The pulse was barely visible.
“Celeste, he is dying. There is nothing to do. Go to your room and stay there, I will dispose of the body.”
“I thought if I turned him, he could be my friend, someone to keep me company since you have been so wrapped up with that woman from the alley.”
“I am sorry about that Celeste; there are things going on that you wouldn’t understand. I promise to try and spend more time with you. Now go to bed the morning is already here.”
Celeste went to her room; her room was like most of the rooms in the house, windowless and dark. She crawled into her bed and went into the deep sleep of a vampire.

Downstairs, Dimitri was removing the bloodstained sheets from his bed and trying to figure out the best way to get rid of the small boy’s body. The sun was already rising. Dimitri hated having to go out in the sun. Most people believe that if a vampire walks into the sun they die instantly. This is not so, older vampires can walk in limited sunlight, it causes some discomfort, but they will only die from prolonged sun exposure. Dimitri decided the best possible way to get rid of the boy was to burn the body. Dimitri knew this took a lot of energy, he could not just burn the body in the normal way; he had to burn the body from the inside out using the powers of his mind. That was the only way to leave no evidence. When Dimitri had completed the task he headed home and he was mentally and physically exhausted and needed to sleep.
Tomorrow is going to be a long night he thought.

Arianna stretched lazily in her bed. She got up, slipped on her robe, and headed to the kitchen to start some coffee. She glanced at the clock and realized that once again she had slept in. It was already noon.
“I have to stop doing this”, she said aloud.
Arianna sat at her table and sipped her coffee.
Where to begin? She wondered.
She had no idea how to get the answers she needed; all Arianna knew was that Dimitri had become a permanent fixture in her mind. Not only was he always in her mind, but he was in her mind in some of the most erotic ways possible. Arianna had no idea what she was going to do all day, but she couldn’t just lay around the house doing nothing. She stepped outside on her porch. It was still cool out.
Maybe I will go for a run, she thought, with everything that’s been going on I haven’t ran I a few days.
Arianna got dressed and went out for her run. She loved to run, it was exhilarating. Every time she ran, Arianna felt a freedom that could not be achieved any other time. Her stress was gone; at least while she was running. Today was no exception. The cool wind was blowing through her hair, caressing the bare skin of her arms and face, almost as if there were a thousand fingers running over her body. Then it happened again, Dimitri was in her mind, it was his hands caressing her skin, his lips that felt like a soft breeze on her face. Arianna came to a complete stop. She bent forward breathing hard, out of breath from running, but also from the erotic images that had been running through her mind.
This is ridiculous, she thought, the one thing I loved to do, the thing that usually lets me get away from everything, is now plagued with thoughts of Dimitri.
Arianna headed home. When she got to her house she grabbed a quick sandwich and sat down.
I have got to do something about this, Arianna thought. I can’t continue to let this consume me the way it has been.
Arianna needed to take a quick shower, she was hot and sweaty from this morning’s run, and her clothes were sticking to her body making her slightly uncomfortable.
When she was out of the shower, Arianna went to the couch and sat down to think. Soon she had drifted into a fitful sleep, images of her and Dimitri ran through her dreams.
Finally the sun set, and Dimitri awoke. He knew it was going to be a long night. Dimitri needed to find a way to talk to Arianna and get invited into her house without scaring the poor girl. (There are many theories about vampires, but only a few are correct. A vampire must be invited into a person’s home in order to cross the threshold.) Dimitri was going to have to send Arianna an impulse to go back to the alley. Dimitri searched out Arianna’s mind and found that it was easier to fin then he thought.
Well, well, he thought with a smile, it seems as if she is dreaming about me.
Dimitri planted the impulse in her mind and left the house to go feed before heading to the alley.

Arianna awoke flushed and completely aroused. Her long hair was a mess from the all tossing and turning she had been doing in her sleep. She sat up, tried to smooth her hair down and regain her composure. Then out of nowhere the thought came to her. She needed to go to the alley tonight. The thought made her nervous, the alley would be dark and most likely deserted, but the urge to go and find some answers was undeniable. Arianna got off the couch put her shoes on and headed out the door. As she was walking she got the strangest feeling, she just knew that tonight would bring some answers.

Dimitri stood in the alley anxiously awaiting, he could smell Arianna getting closer. Her sweet scent caused ripples of anticipation to run through him. She wasn’t far away now and the moment of confrontation was almost there. Dimitri wondered how she was going to react.

Arianna rounded the corner and saw the entrance to the alley. She paused, she could almost feel someone’s presence.
Could it be Dimitri? she wondered.
She came to the alley and that’s when she saw him. Her breath caught in her throat and every erotic image she had ever seen ran through her head at once. It was like being hit by a train. Arianna felt dizzy, her legs grew weak, and then everything went black.
