Oooh~!

I've been wanting to do another post for a while, but haven't really felt up to the "doing" part of it. I was sitting around, doing nothing, and decided I'd just go ahead and do it! So, here we are.

Last time I did mostly Ninja stuff. Since then I have leveled Ranger and Warrior, both of which are amazing fun. I get a good amount of beef sometimes for being lolTaru melee, but, frankly, it's not a big deal.

This is from a merit party I was in on my Ranger when it first reached 75. I've been getting more gear for my Ranger since then and have yet to try it out in action. Missing from the screenshot is Mind+Holy Bolt shots.

I'm not sure if I want to stick to using a Light Staff for the setup yet, I'll figure that out as I go along with it. Missing from the screenshot is the grip that I use from my BLM- it has MND+1 on it. Not very big of an upgrade, but it's more than nothing. I'm unsure at the moment if I want to deal with getting MND+ rings/earrings yet- it seems that MND builds are sort of obsolete. I'll hopefully get some shots with this setup soon and take screenshots.

This setup is missing at least one STR+2 earring, Osode, and Pahluwan Pants (or Relic), and maybe another STR ring for the WS. I suppose I could do with a better belt, but I'm not worrying over it very much at the moment.

I use the same gear on my gun, but change to two behemoth rings for TPing rather than Behemoth/Rajas(I freak more about missing with such a heavy, expensive weapon) and Seiryu's Kote for WS. I'm unsure at the moment whether AGI+15 would be worth more on a Marksmanship WS than Ranged Attack+10, but I should hopefully figure that out with time. I switch Rajas in for WS.

That wraps RNG up for the moment.

My WAR is one of the jobs I'm more proud of. I've been having a ton of fun with it and thus concentrating more on getting gear for it rather than other jobs (namely: Black Mage. :x).

Not pictured in the WS gear are the highlighted Rutter Sabatons. I've been alternating between the two (haven't had a chance to use them in merit, yet- just Assault so far) and metering which I prefer. I've been saving up ancient beastcoins to get a Brutal Earring, and should hopefully have that as soon as I can. I'm on the lookout for people who sell beastcoins for ultra low (okgo 2 for 10k). Other than that, I'd like a STR+2 earring, Peacock Charm- perhaps another Axe (Woodville's Axe unless I get rich by some stroke of luck and get a Juggernaut), a Swift Belt, Byakko's Haidate.. On the gloves, I realize I could save 400k or so by getting another pair of gloves with 2 less Attack, but as shallow as it seems, I really love the way Spiked Finger Gauntlets look with Haubergeon. At 75 I'll be switching to Walahra Turban and use the current helm on WS.

My Sword/Sword setup is the same for TP. For WS, I leave in the Suppanomimi and Thick Sollerets. The Suppanomimi's Sword skill +5 benefits me a lot more than Attack+5 from Coral Earring on Vorpal Blade, and, while it's only 2 Accuracy on Thick Sollerets, I like to think the little more accuracy will be better. That's a Seiryu's Sword you see, not a Ridill. I'd get a Perdu Hanger, but will likely get a Perdu Blade and Perdu Voulge long before that.

Fairly meh. My Great Axe skill is gimp, and I need to skill it up desperately. On top of that, I don't have a good Great Axe other than Fortitude Axe (lost lot to Byakko's Axe- Hopefully will be getting one in a few weeks), and my grip isn't the best (don't get me wrong, delay-3% is pretty hot, I just would rather have the Double Attack +2% grip- it's amazing for both TP and WS). Need a Brutal Earring here, too.

I took a bunch of screenshots on my way to 74 (10k until 75, okgo) of my damage, generally of the higher damage I've done. You'll have to excuse how it looks. I'm no pro at shopping things and making them look all pretty, and, frankly, I don't have the patience for it.

I generally took pictures of the highs, with a few of the normals- rarely of the lows. I have a few highs with multiple crits/double attacks in there. I hope that, for the most part, you can figure out what level I was for each picture depending on the mob.

To finish this post off I just wanted to conclude by discussing a few issues. To start off, I'm not the richest person in FFXI, nor am I generally capable of making money very easily. My gear is all very much on a budget, and I have to spread it out across four jobs (Warrior, Black Mage, Ninja, Ranger). Now, when I say that I have to, I of course do not have to, but I really enjoy all of those jobs evenly (Black Mage used to be less enjoyable to me, but I've recently begun enjoying it again), and would like to get them all to optimal levels, ideally. For the moment, my priorities lie on Warrior first, then Black Mage- Warrior because it's my favourite at the moment, and Black Mage because .. that's where I do all of my raiding.

Another issue is the whole "lolTaru melee" guff that I seem to come across... And, frankly, if I found an Elvaan with the exact same gear as I have and the exact same merits (Oi! I just remembered about that- I'll have to cover it on another post..), with the exact same playstyle as me- yes, I suppose he would outdamage me. But that doesn't mean I'm not capable of doing my job properly as a melee. I run a parser on almost every party that I join, and find that I never do "badly." At 75, having 10 less Strength than an Elvaan- the race with the highest Strength rating- isn't going to make as huge an impact as people would have you think. I suppose this is just my way of telling other Tarus not to worry, and just to ignore those people. In the end, this is just a game- just do whatever is fun for you.

Ok, I didn't want to get all preachy, but that's that. I'll try to go out and merit on Ranger to get some numbers in for the holy bolt setup and some of the new gear- I'll probably post some parsers, too. I'll also have to do a post on merits, ee! That's all for now.
