He doesn't know that he will have friends, and enemies, and people who are both or neither.
Most of all, he doesn't know that Fred and George Weasley have, as a somewhat ill-advised joke, decided to mess with the Sorting Hat prior to the Welcoming Feast. The House Brendon is about to be Sorted into is perhaps not the one the Sorting Hat would have chosen for him-had it been sober.
