Witch's Canyon

I was at my local bookstore and found a copy of Witch's Canyon by Jeff Mariotte.  It wasn't as bad as I feared it would be!  Has anyone read any of the Supernatural novels?  Keith R. A. DeCandido got on my bad side with his thin and vapid novelization of Serenity, so I haven't read his spn novels, for fear it would send me into the same froth I went into about two chapters into Serenity.
