oh, I like that. Castiel answering Dean's prayer like that, quiet & solemn & with purpose. meanwhile, Sam is breaking my heart! I've thought of those lyrics each time they toss Sam in the panic room. *shudders* Metallica is too perfect for this situation.. is that possible?

My love affair with Metallica began with "One" ... I personally like to listen to sad, angry music when I am sad and angry... it makes me feel like I am not alone, but also, that someone else has it worse than me! But I think for Sam, Metallica would just hit TOO close to home for him to really enjoy it, whereas, I think Dean finds that it helps him process like it does me.

I needed to write this coda... I really think that Cas would answer Dean's prayer if he could... and this is such a big part of what Dean was praying for, and something Cas could do... I think Cas's faith is what seeps into Sam, and Sam's own power that he doesn't consciously acknowledge helps him deal with everything. It just took that moment of compassion and belief from Cas.

I love Castiel's devotion, and I love Sam gradually believing that he's not a hallucination. Beautifully done!

thanks very much! poor Sam, his confusion and terror is so hard, compounded by the physical symptoms, the pain... so horrible. Cas was very stealthy and I think he is probably not a match for Sam at this point, so he was being very, very brave.

thanks very much for your sweet comment! I wanted to portray that immediacy of confusion and terror that Sam must have been experiencing. I'm glad it worked for you!

I kind of felt a little bad that I left Dean out in the cold -- but I also felt that Castiel heard Dean's prayer very clearly... and would act upon it in a way that kept Dean safe (Dean I think would NOT be safe to go into the panic room, whereas, Cas still has at least some of his mojo left...) I think Cas is getting to know that Sam really is a good man, who deserves to be helped and defended, so I wanted to see him act on that.
