Poor Callie, she must've been so baffled. Tessa shows up in my stories ALL THE TIME. :) I think I need an icon of her!!

That there are real monsters in the world, like those parents who really do this to their children, is more frightening to me than any zombie or vampire flick.

.... well, I was just googling and found that the name of Julie is the name of a real survivor of this syndrome, Julie Gregory, whose book Sickened came out in 2003. It also seems that most perpetrators suffered from child abuse or neglect themselves. It does seem to be a particularly insidious illness, and luckily it is pretty rare.

I thought they had probably gotten the idea from the Sixth Sense till I saw the connection to the name Julie. Woe.
