Before making her television debut as Kris Furillo, Genevieve was known as an experienced stage actress. She has performed in regional productions of A Midsummer Night's Dream, One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, Crimes of the Heart, and Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. Genevieve holds a bachelor of fine arts degree in drama and a bachelor of arts in English from Tisch School of the Arts, New York University.

The School quickly established itself as one of the leading art schools in the country, creating additional departments of theatre design and lighting, and cinema studies within a few short years. The undergraduate Department of Drama was founded in 1974. It has 2,700 undergraduates (in 7 programs) and 500 graduate students (in 10 programs). Tisch is best known for its renowned acting program, and its impressive film program (often called the NYU Film School), one of the most selective film schools in the world. The Tisch undergraduate acceptance rate for the class of 2011 was 23%.
WILD SPECULATION: I think that actors often hit it off together because they are similar types of people, plus they are working together under tense, creative conditions.
