Yes, you read that right. What I thought were my two gerbil brothers, Battu and Borishka, produced a litter of six tiny pink pups on Thursday, Oct. 29. Battu has always been the brave, exploratory, caretaking big brother, and has often been known to hold Boru down and lick [her] all over, because that's what good big brothers DO, right? But no, Boru is really a mama. And Battu has been a very helpful papa, keeping the angrily squeaking pups warm while Borishka gets [her] exercise running around the cage, digging madly in the corner, and chewing everything. On the day the pups arrived (secretly, under the stuffing) Battu did the most amazing victory dance, drumming his little hind legs and chasing Boru to hump [her]. Hm, I thought, something is up here! and soon enough, we discovered that their nest was full of tiny naked pups. Awwww!!!
But, what, you might ask, is this about a SHE-TICK!!
Well, this afternoon, the Orator and I went to look at the half-price dregs in the costume store, and found.....dun dun DUN!
A CHILD'S TICK COSTUME FROM 1995.
It was marked at $2.99 and was 75% OFF!!!!!!!!!!Unluckily, it is far too little for us, even though I am only 5' 1" -- but we can still put the mask on!!! Also, at CVS their wigs in electric blue, pink and purple were marked down to $2.50. So I am currently in my blue yoga pants, blue long sleeved tee, and electric blue wig.... and I keep putting on the TICK MASK AND POSING. Poor the Orator!!!
WHY they were selling a kid's costume from an obscure Fox Kids cartoon show from FOURTEEN YEARS AGO i'll never know!!!
