Apologies for not getting around to reading this before now, because it's great. It's as good a take on Gallifrey's fate as any, I think, in light of all the contradictory "canon" lore we've had from the actual series. And in some ways, this perpetual stasis is a more hellish fate than destruction, except...there's that glimmer of hope at the end. Or is there? Good work, anyway. :)

thanks! I'm glad you liked how I handled the canon -- that's always one of my biggest concerns. Glad to know it worked okay for you -- and yes, I think there is always at least a glimmer of hope where the Doctor is concerned! :)

This is great! Love the otherworldiness, alienness. And yet the emotions are recognisable to us all.

Sorry, I'm really bad at reviews. :)

Ohhh, this was hard to read! My heart aches for her - President of Nowhere, Nothing and No Time. This is just perfect. And definitely what I imagined for Gallifrey - laid out beautifully. And of course, his old friends and enemies (wouldn't they be one and the same?) are haunted by him, even as he keeps them sane.

Gorgeous, lovie. Truly gorgeous.

*HUGS*

It's long been my personal canon that the woman who spoke up to Rassilon in the End of Time was Romana... and also that he might've zapped her, but if Gallifrey was in stasis, wouldn't she have just looped back into existence or something? *shudder* This is a chilling read. The peoples of Gallifrey descending into madness, worshipping the chaos holding them hostage. And Romana, struggling against madness by clinging to the member of the man who trapped them all and trying to find solace with the one person who understands what it means to be close to the Doctor.

Thanks so much for your thoughtful comment. I really hope we'll see a return of Gallifrey someday. Romana and the Master are two characters that are just too good to let go forever. Plus, a crazy Romana and a sane Master?? Wouldn't that be a twist! Very sad, but compelling!
