I've mostly lurked here, but I recently did an audio commentary on
wyncatastrophe's
Legends of a Fall, Introduction to the Museum Studies Edition - not planned, just whatever entered my head as I read it (so, lots about my personal tastes, not a lot of rigorous analysis) - and she thought it would be appropriate to the community here. So here's the first part,

I can definitely see why you deal w/ the EU the way you do - it's odd, because there are others that use it in a fairly critical way (say, irnan) and I wasn't surprised, but I was quite startled when I realized this was - I'm not sure why.
Re: Obi-Wan - you don't quote him or anything, but just the idea that he has dramatically different modes of being that are reflected in his language seems to fit really well.
Re: Luke - IIRC, EU!Luke dealt with the unutterable boredom of his life by studying a bunch of languages, so I suppose it works with that. And yes, I can see how Luke and Ryn's relationship would be a lot smoother than Leia and Ryn's (especially since Leia didn't know before, so it wasn't a factor for her at the time). Because Anakin really is the connecting factor, and Leia has so much to work through, but for Luke and Ryn it's simpler: they loved him and he was the center of their lives. And now he's gone. (And everybody else is CELEBRATING it.)
(I had assumption that Luke doesn't meet Ryn until after ROTJ and he's meditating or something when she shows up, and so it's - there is literally nobody in the galaxy who understands what he's experiencing and then bam! Ryn. It's just occurred to me that I honestly don't know how it happens, actually. ...That would be excellent fic. And yes, you did mention something about Lukefic!)
Yes, I'm planning on posting part 2 today/tonight.
