Watchmen (No spoilers)

Okay, so not that it would really matter with most of you anyway as the majority of you will have already read Watchmen.

No spoilers only my thoughts.

*ahem*

1.Parents...this is a movie with a LOT of adult themes..do NOT take children to this movie expecting to see a traditional super hero movie. THERE is: VIOLENCE,SEX,BLOOD,MURDER, AND A NAKED ANATOMICALLY CORRECT BLUE MAN RUNNING AROUND WITH A LARGE NUMBER OF shall we say FAIRLY DETAILED SHOTS.

*hangs his head*

Seriously, I wanted to go up to a couple of people and ask if they knew what they were taking their 6 year old children into. I refrained and oddly enough no one left the theater. Ah well..no skin off my nose and yet it did distract me somewhat from watching the watchmen (sorry I couldn't help myself.)

2. I wish I had waited to read Watchmen again until after I saw the movie.I had forgotten the majority of the plot having read it so many years ago and so going to the movies would have left thinking more about what was going on and less about what was going to happen.

3. There were some differences, I won't say where you can see for yourselves. The director did it for a reason and frankly I think that ultimately they achieved the same result without having to put in a lot of additional footage* *(I am NOT saying the additional footage would have been bad just that most of us don't want to watch a 4 hour movie :D )
I actually appreciate the fact that movie in some respects seemed a little more cohesive then the book was a times with the multiple overlapping story lines. (not to mention it looks like what was removed is going to be released as a companion piece on dvd)

4. While I thought the movie itself was good there were a few things I had trouble with in particular the last say two scenes of the movie. Mostly the use of a particular line by the wrong character, it just could have been so much more..I dunno, dramatic had they let the correct character use the line.

5. The soundtrack....um....I found myself at times thinking..WTF? Some of the music was fitting other parts..not so much. I know I know that The Beginning is the end is the beginning was in one of the Batman movies..but...I mean it worked so well with the previews..couldn't they have thrown it in somewhere?!?!?!?!? *freaking simon & garfunkle? I mean sure they are great but come on...*

5. May is going to be a big theater month for me, with Trek/X-men origins and the new Terminator movie..not that this has anything to do with the watchmen just wanted to throw that out there.

Out of 5 I give the movie 3.95

Definitely worth seeing on the big screen.

That's my two cents worth!
