How do you find the beginning of your novels? How do you know where to start them?

This may sound strange, but my beginnings tend to find me.

My muse works in mysterious ways. Sometimes a title will pop into my head first, or a character will just show up and whisper to me about their story. Yesterday a shape shifter popped in my head at work and fed me the first line of a werewolf story. Just call my muse the Plot Whisperer, I guess!
