I said there'd probably be no Topic of the Week this week due to holiday laziness. But I just posted a review of my 2008 goals to my personal LJ and thought it would make a fun topic for this last week of the year

I'm pretty happy with what I accomplished in '08, which is funny, because every day I am plagued with a continuous I'm-getting-nothing-done malaise. So it was nice to see I did something this year other than go to cons and read blogs.
I way exceeded my goals for appearances, both online and in person, and plan to cut back in 2009, as it had an adverse affect on my sanity and writing productivity (and bank account, in the case of cons).
I never wrote that proposal for a new adult series, though I think that was because the YA series proposal I *did* write was a brand-new project, rather than the revised proposal I thought I was going to do. So self-absolution granted.
Um, that screenplay? Nope, never touched it, never fixed the anticlimactic ending, never submitted it to more contests. Oh well. I wouldn't want to live in Hollywood, anyway. So not my scene.
The biggest "miss" was the stock signings (I planned to do 100--ha! It was more like 10). Way too busy to make special trips, and the price of gas for most of the year made it cost-prohibitive, too.
I learned I need to say "no" to appearances when they could interfere with deadlines. Which makes the introvert in me feel all cozy and righteous. :-)
