- Your genre(s)?
Erotic romance (Lots of subgenres...er sub, sub-genres. BDSM, historical fantasy, vampire, futuristic...), and paranormal romance.
2. How many books have you completed?
Oh, man...now I have to go count. My husband keeps track, I don't. Twenty five, some are novellas.
3. How many books are you working on now?
One, Witch Heart. Getting ready to start a new novella for Harlequin Spice. I also have a half-finished novella I need to get back to working on.
4. Are you a linear or chunk writer?
It depends on the book. Sometimes I write linearly, sometimes chunky. Witch Heart is very chunky -- "patchwork quilt" style. I write scenes from all over the plot and sew them together. I also have numerous notes in the margin. Witch Heart is almost complete word-count wise, but I still have lots more to do with it. Right now it probably looks like a mess to anyone but me.
5. The POV you're most partial to?
Third person limited and occasionally first. I really, really hate omniscient with the fire of a thousand suns.
6. The theme that keeps cropping up in your books?
Women finding, developing and using their power, (whatever "power" it may be). Exploration of female sexual fantasy (ya' know, it's not a bad thing, people!) Redemption is also a frequent theme. Spirituality comes up a lot as well.
7. How many days a week do you write?
Every day. It's rare I take a day off.
8. What time of day do you get your best writing done?
I have to write when I have the time. With a toddler in the house that's usually between 7am and 8am (before she's awake) -- 12 pm and 2pm (nap time) -- and then after 8pm (ah, blessed bed time).
9. Who are your inspirations?
I would be writing fantasy right now if I'd never picked up a Teresa Medieros novel in college. Reading her initially put me on the path to romance, even though my books (and voice) are very different from hers.
10. Who are your favorite authors to read? (different from mentors)
See above and add Anne Bishop, Jacquelyn Carey, Robin McKinley and Guy Gavriel Kay, Charlaine Harris, Karen Marie Moning, Kim Harrison, George R.R. Martin, Terry Pratchett, Lauren Dane, Megan Hart...the list goes on.
