The Cab canceled their show tonight in Tulsa and I'm so fucking disappointed.
The openers moved to The Gypsy Coffeehouse and played short acoustic sets. Hey Monday, Rocket to the Moon and This Providence all played about four songs each.
I don't know these three bands very well, but I can tell you that Hey Monday played Homecoming, and Rocket to the Moon played Dakota. I thought This Providence was fucking awesome and the singer is completely gorgeous. I swooned every time we made eye contact, I swear. I loved their songs and will be checking them out.
The Cab was there, hanging out. I didn't talk to any of them, but I could have. Marshall played the piano while Hey Monday was setting up.Ian was sitting on the floor right across from me during Hey Monday's set and Singer stood right next to me for most of This Providence's set. And I saw Cash and Johnson by their van outside the Marquee.
It was kind of a cool time, and I will never again be around that many Decaydance/FBR folks all at once, that's for sure. Everyone from all four bands was hanging out. Some people took pictures but it was very low key. The Gypsy is a tiny little place and there was maybe a hundred people in there (ETA: my friend who went with me says I'm completely delusional, the Gypsy doesn't hold a hundred people, it was more like 50.) I was right in front of the bands, dead center on the couches. A few people sat in front of us on the floor, but seriously I could not have had a better view.
I wish The Cab had played, even just a couple of acoustic songs like the other bands did. I'm really disappointed that I didn't get to see them play. I'm gonna go cry in my beer.
ETA: My pictures, but don't get too excited. My phone takes shitty pictures and it was dark in there. Sorry sorry.
Cassadee from Hey Monday
My horrible stalkery pic of Singer. I'm so ashamed. And my camera sucks.
