I'm very seriously considering doing Ascendio this summer-- it's July 12-15th. The only things keeping me from VERYvery seriously considering it is that I need con-buddies. And cons are expensive
The con pass is $225 for the whole convention. And the hotel is $210 a night-- it'd probably be MUCH easier to commute (I live an hour and a half from Orlando) but... it'd be super exhausting. And I -might- have the money for a hotel room by then-- December will probably bring in $800 alone. Bah. But we're looking at spending easily $1000.
That number makes me cringe. But at the same time, I -really- want to do a con. Maybe it'd make more sense to just buy two day passes ($75 a piece) and just attend Friday and Saturday. Blah. depends on what the scheduling is like ;)
EDIT: I got to thinking... cons are usually boring the first and last days. What I -could- do is get two day passes for Friday and Saturday (and later upgrade to a full pass if I need it), if there's something interesting Thursday or Sunday, I can drive in, and otherwise, just get a hotel for Friday night? That would save me $400-500 and I'd still get the con experience I wanted
