reminiscing...

dieu sent me an old picture of the two of us from back in high school.

It is cringe-worthy. Partly due to the fact that I relied on my parents' $$$ to buy my clothes, which is always difficult when wanting to look nice (nice clothes generally mean $$$, but my mom is not a girly person and dresses for comfort, not appearance, which is in stark contrast to my fashion sense...). But mostly because I had to wake up at 5 AM every day and didn't get home until 5 PM every day, and spent much of my time being exhausted. And it's hard to look nice, or care about looking nice, when you're tired AND miserable ("miserable" because it's high school. If you're NOT miserable in high school, you're not doing it right) I spent the rough majority of HS in the same black hoodie and jeans, my hair in a messy ponytail.

I make up for that time by putting extra care and consideration into my appearance when I meet up with old HS friends. "Look! I'm not really a bag lady!"

housesitting went well. The people came back a day early, which was bumming me out until they told me to keep all the money they'd left out for me (I called to ask-- they left me money for two days but I only sat for one). It pays to sit for family friends. Literally. So I'm not as bummed, though it would've been nice to have that second day just so I could use their pool some more.

I mean, I spent an hour and a half in it today, but it gets boring. And you can barely tell... why is it that, when I WANT to get tanned/burnt, I don't, but when it's unexpected, or in odd shapes, it happens?

Um... wish I had more to write about. Still going through a fanfic kick. OH! Yeah. So, back in HS, I had a really good friend who was a CRAZY LotR nut. I enjoyed the series, it was entertaining to watch, but she was to LotR that I am to Harry Potter (and funny enough, she is to Harry Potter that I am to LotR). She's grown up and out of a lot of things, but she's still insane over LotR and found out our local movie theatre has been playing the extended edition movies three Tuesdays in a row. This Tuesday is the last, and they're playing Return of the King. My friend messaged me, "We are going to see this, even if I have to drag your ass along." I loled and consented. Luckily, I still have my ANCIENT Legolas t-shirt elfwithawand got me... god. Over seven years ago. (KAITLIN. I SO TOTALLY STILL HAVE IT. BWAHAHAHA) It's seen better times, but it still has Legolas in chibi-anime-cute! printed on it. Works for me!

Yes, granted, between the LotR festivities and the HP8 festivities coming up in July, I have spent all of my housesitting monies, but it'll be worth it. Plus, I have more sitting coming up (even if it's not going to pay as wonderfully as this previous gig)

housesitting, money, movies, friends, fandom, dork, high school
