It's been a few days since we've posted any news here at Fangirl.
I take the blame for this (as should Rachel cause she got married and stole me away for a few days to be in her wedding...damn her.) but I also put the blame on The Sims 3. It's like crack for your computer. Maxis and EA have figured out what made the first two installments so awesome and brain stealingly fun and improved on them.
Many were the custom player made goodie sites that sprung up AFTER the release of Sims 1 and 2. They then started charging for the content. EA now has the "Exchange" (sort of like the App store for the Iphone) where people can post their creations and other players can download them. So far these have been free...but the game is still new. They also have their own content that you can purchase Sim Points to buy with and freebie content (like the Toyota Prius that I got my gal to drive around in).
The Sim creation is even more crazy accurate too and I can assume will get more so as updates happen. The career mode is more broad and your Sims life goals is even more intense. The map is pretty big and there's a cool graveyard you can go visit (cause I'm just that way). For some reason the game let me hit on death when he came to reap a friend of mine who died in my house (yes, I'm just that way...) One wonders what a WooHoo with Death would amount to (le petite morte....wow, I'm a sick woman).
My only complaint is that I'd like to see inside the places you go to like the millitary base, the Spa, etc. This sort of is a let down...but I know the game can only do so much. And I'm sure the updates and inevitable Add On packs will help in this too. Also, I miss the vampires and alien people. I love the kooky weird shit the original games had like that. This has the graveyard and ghosts, but there's something to be said about the whole "Blah Blah" dude in a cape running around. But I'm biased.

Today is the day that Ghostbusters hits every system known to man. I'm not sure about PC but Wii, PS3, DS, and X-Box are getting this bad boy. You've got the whole motion control thing with the Wii (swinging your proton pack like a bad mofo) but you're gonna lose in the graphics department.
I myself am going to fight to get my husband to fork out for the PS3 version. And I can't wait to see what this game can do. With the guys coming back to voice it and a pretty neat storyline this is going to be one of the biggest games of the summer (since Arkham Asylum was pushed to flipping September). Viva Venkman.
