First of all, thank you to
scatteredlogic and
firefly_124 for running the Tour! I have found tons of new fandoms and fanfiction through everyone's recommendations and through my introduction to
Delicious. So many thanks to my fellow reccers on the Tour as well!
Second,
Fangirl Tour's Delicious Account is updated to the end of the 2009 tour. I will be adding the 2010 recs shortly! Check those tags out when you want to find a story about a certain character or in a specific genre.
Third, did anyone else have a tough time narrowing their recs down to just 13?! Man, I feel like I'm driving away from the gas station without some of my children in the car! Haha well, I tried to provide a goodly amount of variety. I hope you enjoy!

Title: Bound and Shagged
Author:
mundungus42 Link:

Status: Complete
Summary: On the eve of a Big Birthday, Lucius is painfully aware of all that's missing from his life and exactly how much scheming will be required to obtain it. SS plus HG and a side of LM, overflowing with rude bits, so don't read if that doesn't appeal.
Why I fangirl this: Severus is a monk who makes delicious brew. Hermione is an Alphonse Mucha-esque manuscript sleuth who seeks information. Lucius is a charmer with the nerve to host ten 50th birthday parties, including one Bubbles-themed party! XD From the very first paragraph, this story had me snagged, and I loved the ride it took me on. And frankly, those poem-spells are hot! The little details in this story add so much characterization to these three characters and I adore their interaction with each other. Oh and have I mentioned how HOT their interaction is?
Excerpt: It had been a good many years since Hermione Granger had been rendered speechless, but finding the late Severus Snape alive, well, and catching her red-handed sneaking into a Trappist monastery was exactly the sort of thing to do it. However, the obscenity he uttered was so incongruous with his monastic habit that she had to suppress a hysterical giggle. In response, he seized her arm and all but dragged her into the nearest building.

Summary: Fantasy isn’t just a word, it’s also a release, a cage, and a location. Luna Lovegood has the floor plan.
Why I fangirl this: I found this story through
mollyssister's recommendation from the 2008 Tour, and it made me ship Luna/Remus like it was burning! I love
littlelizzyann's characterization of Luna, from her detachment to her fantasies to her acceptance of Remus' wolf. So although it has been rec'd before, I felt it bared repeating and I'd like to add a 'thank you' to
mollyssister for introducing it into my personal fandom :)
Excerpt: I'm having an erotic experience on Remus Lupin's doorstep, Luna thought. She pulled back a bit.

Title: Daydreaming
Author:
teshara Link:
http://www.teshara.com/grangersnape.htmRating: NC-17
Status: WIP but I hope for more *bounce bounce*
Summary: Hermione requests a special Daydream Kit from the twins' joke shop and starts a phenomenon.
Why I fangirl this: This earns my ultimate GUH reaction! Hermione's daydreams are complex, naughty and visceral. The tantalizing hint of plot at the end of the third chapter makes me hope that the fourth chapter will be released eventually. Even without that however, the daydreams are self-contained and stand on their own as great reads.
Excerpt: "You’re complaining because it gave you multiple orgasms?" George asked seriously.
"I’m complaining because my villain stopped being so villainy at the end, declared me satisfied, and went off to entertain our children," Hermione registered George’s reaction.

Summary: If there's a way back out of this world, Will is determined to find it. At any cost.
Why I fangirl this: This story is so brilliantly crafted, sad and perfect and compelling. There is a surprise reveal that stunned and profoundly moved me. Both Will and Kirjava are well-done especially in their relationship with one another. Will's professor at Oxford, Dr. Baker, is absolutely captivating. Will's pining for Lyra meshes with how the books end for me, and the ending gave me satisfaction, hope and sorrow. You'll see what I mean when you read it.
Excerpt: "The theoretical physics," Dr. Baker murmured. "Dark matter. Many worlds. Of course, that explains it. I'd wondered."
Mary gave her a sharp look. "What do you mean?"
"He wants to find a way back to her," Dr. Baker said simply. "This lost girl of his. By any means necessary. And he's looking along the same paths I am, so that suits me fine. And to think, at my age, I'd nearly given up hope."
"You--"
"My dear," Dr. Baker said, with a strange little smile, "you didn't really think you and your clever protege were the only people to visit other worlds, did you?"

Title: Presque Vu

Status: Complete
Summary: Presque Vu. Or, "on the tip of the tongue." Arthur meets Mal first. He inherits Dom, after. Everything else is on him. Arthur/Eames, Dom/Mal.
Why I fangirl this: I was so happy to see
_odella_ rec some wonderful Inception fanart and fanfiction! It's currently one of my favorite fandoms, and there are many treasures to discover. This fic, for example, is extraordinary. I came to this fandom looking for Mal-centric fanfiction. I thought her and Cobb's romance terribly tragic and yet lovely, so I wanted to see it explored. This story isn't Mal-centric but she is a large part of the story and a great influence on characters and events, just like she is in the movie. It builds a superb backstory for the main characters that is rich and in-character while adding so much. Mal is gloriously French, and her relationship with Arthur is perfect. Arthur's later relationship with Dom is great as well. Eames is so, so in-character and gorgeous. As Pru says, if the movie was Dom's love story, this is Arthur's. If you read nothing else from the Inception fandom, read this.
Excerpt: He wants to ask how it is that they're friends, when they have so little in common, and why someone so lovely and sophisticated and older and smarter would spend any time with him. He wants to know why she likes him when he has a tendency to snap at her when she is at her flakiest because he's always precisely on time and she is perennially 20 minutes late, and he disapproves of almost everything she does with her life, and who she does it with. It's as dizzying and nonsensical as lust, this small, aching thing between them, and Arthur thinks miserably how sad it is that he's 21 and trying to puzzle out the sinews of a friendship, how lonely he must have been before.

Title: Amazing Grace
Author:
airgiodslv Link:
http://airgiodslv.livejournal.com/535615.htmlRating: PG
Status: Complete
Summary: "Cobb’s in a coma," Arthur says. It’s the first time he’s said it out loud; the words feel strange in his mouth. "He’s fallen into limbo. Mal and I can’t wake him up." Dom/Mal, Arthur/Eames.
Why I fangirl this: The movie hinted at the scenerio that Mal was actually right and Dom was in dream state. A story with this premise was something the fandom was waiting for, and
airgiodslv's version is FANTASTIC. Just. I hope you read it. It's really well thought out, and Mal and everyone are so amazingly written.
Excerpt: "He has something, in there," Mal says. "His totem, he calls it. It is what convinces him that his world is real."
"Which is bollocks, isn’t it?" Eames says bluntly. "We can prove to ourselves that we’re in a dream, change the laws of physics and the world around us, but the trouble with reality is that everything behaves exactly as it should. Just because your mind refuses to change something doesn’t mean it can’t be changed."
Mal looks down at Cobb’s slack face. "You convince yourself that it is real."
"So how do we convince him?" Arthur asks. He needs answers, not more questions. He needs to find a way out of this.
"Fantasy or not, Cobb’s world does still obey our rules," Eames answers. "Theoretically, all we have to do to wake him up is to get him to go to sleep."
"A job," Mal says.

Summary: It feels sort of cliche, honestly, the whole experienced older man thing. Ariadne/Eames.
Why I fangirl this: I love the pace of Eames' seduction of Ariadne. There are so many interesting observations here and I especially appreciated Ari's view on Paris and how Eames could fit into that. The banter is wonderful, and they both rang really true to me.
Excerpt: Eames is like a tomcat, Ariadne thinks to herself, watching him sprawl across the booth next to her.

Summary: Yusuf schools them all on workplace safety. Ariadne/Saito, Arthur/Eames.
Why I fangirl this: Yusuf and Saito are BAMFs and do not get enough recognition! The author has a medical degree so she knows what Yusuf is nagging about. He is ridiculously amazing in this fic with his sarcasm and one-liners, and Saito buying everything in sight to woo Ariadne is hysterical XD You'll laugh and be educated in IV use. Win-win!
Excerpt: Yusuf comes to the realisation that if he's going to have the smallest chance of getting them a good wedding present, he'll have to start thinking of ideas now, because Saito will probably consider it only proper to own most of the world before he pops the question.

Title: War Stories
Author:
sundancekid Link:
http://sundancekid.livejournal.com/587952.htmlRating: PG-13
Status: Complete, 4,256
Summary: Pam, St. Mungo's, the Order, the war.
Why I fangirl this: Pam Beesly is the Welcome Witch at St. Mungo's. That concept alone is such an odd but potentially great crossover plot to me and THEN
sundancekid comes through with an amazing story to tell during those turbulent times of war. The Hufflepuff House is my favorite (why yes, I am saying this as the Ravenclaw Co-Prefect at
hogwartsishome lol), and Pam does it proud!
Excerpt: The things Pam's always hated most about her job turn out to be the handiest. No one ever notices the Welcome Witch, no one thinks twice about having conversations in front of her, no one realizes she sees everything and everyone that comes and goes. Pam's invisibility becomes her greatest weapon.
It turns out, Dwight is in the Order of the Phoenix too. Pam is... surprised.

Summary: She didn't analyze it. Not talking to him had been weird and hard and lonely; talking to him made her happy. Jim/Pam.
Why I fangirl this: Guh, phone sex doesn't usually work for me but Sophia is brilliant at it. It moves the plot along while still remaining hot and even fluffy! Her characterizations of Jim and Pam are fantastic, and her overall voice is in line with the show.
Excerpt: A week later he called to read her an article from Maxim over the phone. When they hung up after two hours, her ear sore and red, she checked the magazine's website to see if he could have emailed the article to her. He could have.

Why I fangirl this: I clicked on the link to this for the Sherlock/John art which is of course glorious. I love how John is such a good homemaker and Sherlock is jealous of his skillz tehe! I adore the expressions in the hug picture as well. So warm and fuzzy ♥ But then I saw the EPICNESS of Bernard and about died from happiness. Look at how precious he is! Status: Complete, 2400
Summary: Liesl, far from the eidelweiss.
Why I fangirl this: It's the only Sound of Music fanfiction I've found, and it wasn't what I was expecting. It was so much more. Liesl's emotions are complex and captivating in this short one-shot, and her relationships with everyone along with her experience in Ameria are simply fascinating.
Excerpt: Elsa gives her a long look, and her laugh is bitter. "Goodnight, Liesl. You look like a rosebud in that dress - your father will have to guard you close."
Fandom: Star Trek Reboot
Title: Little Shadow
Author:
hollycomb Link:
http://hollycomb.livejournal.com/126827.htmlRating: NC-17
Status: Complete, ~42,000
Summary: Sulu is Chekov's roommate at the Academy. Sulu is not happy about being saddled with a kid for a roommate, but eventually they become friends. Chekov falls in love with Sulu, and everything falls apart. Chekov/Sulu.
Why I fangirl this: I found
hollycomb through
cincodemaygirl's recommendation of her Calvin & Hobbes story,
Theories About Nuclear Winter, during the 2009 Tour. That story had pitch-perfect characterization, and after reading it, I knew I had to read whatever else this author had written pronto! Problem was, most of her other fics were about these characters, Pavel Chekov and Hikaru Sulu. I had seen the Star Trek Reboot and liked it a lot; however, other than finding Spock and Uhura's romance to be an interesting twist on canon, I hadn't really thought of shipping anyone in that fandom. But I decided to give one of her stories a try anyway based on her writing. Luckily for me, I chose Little Shadow. This story, oh God, this story made me weep, laugh, and get hot flashes through its vivid portrayal of the agonizing uncertainty of not only starting at a new school but also having a painful, unrequited crush. Chekov is so amazingly characterized that his pain killed me and his triumph... well, it also killed me but in a good way! :) With this story,
hollycomb singlehandedly made Chekov/Sulu my Star Trek reboot OTP. So thanks for that rec,
cincodemaygirl!!
Excerpt: He tells himself to calm down and doesn't dare to think this means anything. Sulu is drunk. He'll wake up regretful and wanting Ted, they'll get back together, and Sulu will ask Chekov to be his best man at their wedding. The dog will be the ring bearer. Everyone will laugh in delight as it slumps down the aisle with one of those stupid dog smiles on its face. Chekov will die alone as planned. This is nothing to get excited about.
