Happy Fangirly Wednesday!
It's Wednesday here on the Fangirl-Tour. It was very hard for me to find stories that haven't been already recommended here, but I think I managed.
I'm afraid that as mollyssister says, I'm still slutting around in Twilight. Oh, come now, don't vanish on me now. Most of these stories actually deal with emotions that are barely touched on in the original series. Not to mention that when you start looking at some of the 'all human' fics, it's much more like original fic than fanfic anyway. Give it a try, you might be surprised!
I've put together quite a variety of stories, from one-shots, to WIPs, to lenghthy completed fics... from canon-compliant, to AU, to all human... maybe there is actually something in here that might hook you. You never know!

It's smart, clever, and an enjoyable read. And what can I say, I like the fact that Bella doesn't say, "Oh! A vampire! Cool! I wanna be one too!"

Why I fangirl this: All human. This story is sweet, fluffy, with a healthy dose of angst. I enjoyed it as it was posting. One of the most notable things being that the kids actually sound like kids. They are neither too adult nor too baby-ish. It's nicely done.

Why I fangirl this: AU... I think. :) This story, I believe is about vampires, but it does not follow the traditional Twilight story. Of course, that's a guess. Shug described this story best as a gothic-like feel that is reminiscent of "The Secret Garden." It's nothing like that story, of course, but it has that mysterious feel to it. It's compelling and though there are hints, it makes the reader long to know what's going on.

Why I fangirl this: Okay, I admit, I have a weakness for well-written student/teacher fics, I mean, look at my last fandom pairing. Wait! Wait, wait, wait, wait!!! Bella is never Edward's teacher. Things are very, very above board. Really. Trust me. This story is smart, well-written, and the author doesn't skimped on the character's emotional development. It's only a couple of chapters away from the ending, so it's definitely safe to read. I will warn that the preface of the story reads differently than how the story is truly written. So, even if the preface turns you off, give the story a chance.

Why I fangirl this: All human. This story is well-written and clever. It has a wonderful mixture of angst with the drama. I don't typically like many of the 'high school' fics in this fandom (overdone) but I enjoy this story.

Why I fangirl this: This is an AU fic. Vampires are vampires, humans are humans, this story just doesn't follow the Twilight series, it branches off into it's own unique territory. I originally didn't read because I didn't understand the summary, mostly because the main focus of the story is about the mystery of this broken vampire. It's enjoyable and well-written... and I'm a sucker for a good hurt/comfort fic.

Why I fangirl this: All human. Often times when we read about abusive relationships, it's the guy who is a prick and hurting Bella, and usually the only reason is because he's... well... a prick. This story deals with a medical reason for Bella's sudden violent mood swings and how she and Edward cope with it. It's heartfelt, it's angsty, it's sweet, it's nicely written.

Why I fangirl this: All human. While working on her dissertation, Bella learns as much about herself as she does the subject she's studying. It's nicely done and well-planned/executed. Enjoyable read.
