Christmas was uneventful but ok. We had a relaxing time at home. There was a program on TV on the
Christmas Truce in World War I (
90th anniversary this year). I didn't know of the details involved before, and this made me think that I could let go of grudges and the past if enemies fighting in a war could let go and exchange gifts and play football on Christmas. It was rather compelling and thought-provoking.
On boxing day, we went out to a warehouse-style sale because of all the bargain ads on TV, also walked around and got to see the Christmas display at a department store in the city. I bought 4 books rather unintentionally. I usually don't buy books, have too many books at home unread and normally don't know what to buy, but remembered some names mentioned on LJ. Later when I got home, I found out they could all be borrowed from the local libraries. On the upside, they all seem to be quite good, and will give me a push to read more. The books I bought were The Lovely Bones, The Hitchhiker's Guide to The Galaxy, The Dressing Station, and Last Orders.
The weather here has been really wacky lately. Even though Melbourne has the reputation of capable of having four seasons in the same day, these last few days has been like winter, even though we are in the middle of summer. Last night was 8 degrees Celsius, there was even hail, and during the day it was less than 20, when it should be closer to 40. I like this cold weather better, so I am not complaining. *not sure why I am talking about the weather*
And finally, I am sure everyone has heard about it. Following
angiej's example, if anyone has not donated for the Asia tsunami appeal, please consider if you can spare. Below are the links to Red Cross (US and Australia).

I hope everyone is doing well, had a happy Christmas and looking forward to the new year.
