Dear Devon and Cornwall Constabulary
This afternoon at approximately 16.45, two of your officers witnessed me almost being run off the road by a bus, which then pulled directly into a bus stop. I know they saw it, because they we right behind. Now, this sort of thing happens all the time with buses. I'm not asking you to perform miracles by suddenly making all bus drivers considerate to cyclists, or even do something useful like going up to the bus and giving the driver a good telling-off. That would be far too much in these times of austerity, when you have to concentrate all your resources on catching proper criminals. What I do expect you to do is show some consideration yourselves. Stopping in the middle of a junction to let cars cross in front of you may be polite to other drivers, but it is not helpful to the cyclist you overtook a second before! You're jolly lucky I had room to swerve, or I'd have run straight into the back of your pretty white car and got dirty tyre marks on it.
Yours sincerely,
A disgruntled cyclist.
