Eden Project

Have just got home from a trip to the Eden Project in Cornwall. The tropical dome is absolutely amazing, and they have recently started to let people climb up some steps to the top of the dome, and you can look down on the forest. There are birds and lizards in the dome as well as the plants - just a few specially imported species - and some other locals that enjoy the year-round warmth and abundant food supply. We were told that some mornings, soon after the project opened, they would find a few birds waiting outside, and as soon as someone triggered the door sensor, in they would go! After that we went ice skating on the very small rink they have set up in a tent outside the domes. The skates were pretty awful (if I went skating more often than once every other year I would buy my own) but it was good fun, and I stayed on my feet the whole time. Actually, that last isn't quite true. Back outside again and in my own, very sensible, shoes, I slipped on some ice and fell over! Very luckily I didn't even get a scratch, but I did appreciate the irony.
