During her sixth year at Hogwarts Alicia made it a point to visit the Astronomy Tower once a week. She couldn't sleep well that year because of everything that was going on at home. Her baby sister was ill and her parents were fighting a lot. She didn't know if they would divorce or not. She feared the worst outcomes all around. She did her best to not think about it and focus on school but she wasn't always successful.
About two months into doing this she bumped into Miles on one of her late night excursions. "What are you doing up this late?" he inquired, curious about seeing her out that late.
"Nothing just trying to clear my head."
"You meeting up with someone?"
"No, why would you think that?"
"You always struck me as the adventurous type," he replied with a devious wink.
Alicia rolled her eyes. "Look I don't have time for this. Think what you want about me, but I have places to go and things to do so if you'll excuse me."
Alicia made it a point of losing Miles that night, but it made him curious so he swore to himself that he would find out what Alicia was up to. It took some serious detective work, but eventually he was able to follow her to her destination the following week. He smiled knowing his presence would irritate her, but he didn't care. He wanted to irritate her. It was fun to get a rise out of her every chance he got.
Before he interrupted her silent admiration of the stars above he decided to watch her. He was fascinated by how quiet she was and the way her face lit up when she caught sight of the occasional shooting star. It was in this moment he realized he had a crush on her. He didn't intend on admitting it to anyone, but it was a relief to finally accept his feelings to be a reality. That night he didn't interrupt her. Instead he decided to let her enjoy her peace. It was obvious she was going through something and needed a reprieve from it.
