She thought long about what she had done to him. Ginny usually didn't regret her actions, but slapping Blaise Zabini was something that stuck out in her mind. Part of her wanted to apologize, but her pride wouldn't allow it. The other part of her wanted to do it again. It had given her a rush. A rush she couldn't explain. A rush that became more and more addictive as she thought about it.
She passed him in the halls. Their eyes meeting briefly before going their separate ways. She always turned around the look at him for one last time before going off her own way, but he never looked back. Not like he used to. She remembered the many times he would admire her from afar. She had always wanted to ask him what he wanted, but found herself not daring to. Besides he was always around other Slytherins.
On yet another long day of completing her Charms' assignments, Ginny found herself itching for some trouble. She got up from the table she was currently occupying with Hermione and stretched. "I think it's time for a break," she announced.
"No, I'm almost done with this. Give me one more minute," Hermione replied.
Ginny rolled her eyes at her close friend and decided to go to the kitchens to get herself a snack. It had been such a long time since she had done it. She wondered if anything had changed, but figured nothing had. In a way she was glad she didn't tell Hermione to come with her because she would have an outburst about how elves weren't treated correctly and how they deserved to get paid for their services.
As she made her treck to the kitchens she couldn't help but feel she was being followed. She figured it was just her imagination and ignored the feeling. Upon arriving to the kitchen a house elf offered her assistance.
"Would you kindly get me some ice cream?"
"Certainly," the house elf squeaked as it wandered off to get it for her.
She sat down in a nearby table and waited. It returned promptly and set the bowl before her. She thanked the house elf and began to enjoy her ice cream, which happened to be strawberry. As she enjoyed her ice cream she heard the door to the kitchen swing open and then footsteps.
"The usual, please," she heard a voice say.
"Right away sir," the same house elf who helped her said.
She turned to look at who had arrived. Her eyes instantly locked with Blaise's. They were staring each other down for a minute before he took a seat next to her, refusing to speak to the Gryffindor. Again the house elf returned promptly and set the bowl before him. He started to enjoy his ice cream, but she couldn't stop staring at him. At first he ignored it hoping she would stop, but when it became obvious she wasn't going to he looked at her.
"Why are you staring at me?"
"Your ice cream. It's blue."
"Yeah. So?"
"I didn't know they made blue ice cream."
"They don't. The house elves make it especially for me. Why? Is that a problem?"
"Why would the house elves make it for you? You're not a very sociable person so I have no idea what would compel them to do something so nice."
"Shut it Weasley. You don't even know anything about me and for that matter you're a very ungrateful person."
She wrinkled her nose at him. "I am not ungrateful," she huffed.
"You sure are. I tried to help you after that huge fall you had and all you did was slap me. Where's my thank you?"
"You weren't helping me. You were groping me. There's a difference."
"I would never dream of groping a blood traitor like you."
Splat! The entire left side of Blaise's face was now covered in strawberry ice cream. His jaw dropped. He turned to Ginny, anger clearly visible on his expression. He grabbed a hand full of his own ice cream and said, "This means war." Then he flung it at Ginny, who was expecting it and ducked. The first hand full didn't catch her face. However, the second hand full did causing Blaise to cackle.
"War it is!" she shouted as she proceeded to throw more ice cream at Blaise. The house elves were frightened at first by the chaos, but soon they were amused by it. They watched intently as Ginny and Blaise had an ice cream fight. After 30 minutes of nonstop ice cream tossing both sides decided to call it quits and head back to their dormitories. As they walked out of the kitchen together Blaise said, "You're still an ungrateful person you know."
Ginny hit him in the arm. "Shut up before I throw ice cream at you again." He laughed at her threat and stole a kiss from her before she even knew what was going on. After said kiss took place he continued on his way to the Slytherin common room, leaving a confused Ginny in his wake.
