They worked in the Ministry of Magic. They both worked in the Department of Magical Law Enforcement, which is the largest department within the Ministry. Hermione applied for a job in the Improper Use of Magic Office. It didn't take long for her to get a response. Within days they eagerly accepted her application and offered her a job imediately. Mafalda Hopkirk was pleased with Hermione's interest in her line of work and offered her a job as her secretary. Hermione accepted because of her interest.

Graham Pritchard was part of the Magical Law Enforcement Squad. He got assignments daily and was happy about this. There was never a dull day and that's what he had been after when he applied for this job. He had grown up in a fairly quiet town with both parents and younger sister. Nothing out of the ordinary ever happen. No one ever died. This changed during his fifth year at Hogwarts when he made the decision to participate in the battle against Voldemort. From then on he was an action junkie.

He got himself into all sorts of trouble just so he could get himself out of them. He improved his dueling skills dramatically in just a few months. His parents grew concerned and tried to restrict his use of magic. They failed miserably when Graham became on adult and decided to leave his home. It had been a difficult decision, but it had to be made.

That was all in the past now. Graham had a different life now. He was helping people now rather than just causing mayhem. He headed to Mrs. Hopkirk's office one day to see her.

"I'm here to see Mrs. Hopkirk," he told Hermione.

"Do you have an appointment?"

"No. I didn't know I needed one."

"Yes, you need an appointment. Otherwise I can't let you see her."

"Can you just make this one exception? I really need to talk to her."

"What about?"

Graham sneered at Hermione and refused to tell her his personal business. Hermione didn't push it because it wasn't her job to do so. Instead she knocked politely on Mrs. Hopkirk's office door and explained the situation at hand.

"It's quite all right for him to come in dear. He's my nephew," she explained.

"Oh, I didn't know," Hermione replied with a blush.

Graham walked briskly past Hermione. She stared at him in astonishment. She couldn't believe how incredibly rude that had been. She returned to her desk and work once the door to her boss' office was closed.

"So how are you Graham?"

"I'm all right Aunt M. I've just been a little busy. I'm sorry I missed our lunch date. Work got crazy that day."

"I understand. That raid last week didn't give us much choice."

"Too many people were injured that day."

"Unfortunately. Have you spoken to your mother recently?"

"No, why? Has she been asking you about me?"

Graham and his aunt proceeded to discuss family issues. Most of them were based around the fact Graham had left his home under the circumstances that he had. His aunt had shared her disapproval millions of times, but nothing had compelled Graham into being in contact with his mother again. After a few minutes of this talk, Graham grew annoyed and excused himself.

"Are we on for lunch tomorrow?"

"Sure Aunt M."

He left her office. As he walked towards Hermione's desk, he couldn't help but stare at the top of her head. Her head was down because she was reading something and all he could see was her bushy hair. He wanted to snicker at her. He had never seen anyone with such bushy hair. It was amusing only because he considered it bad hygiene for anyone to keep their hair in such a manner. He walked up to her desk and cleared his throat.

"Excuse me. Would you mind if I asked you a question?"

"No not at all. Go ahead."

"Haven't you ever heard of hair products that can fix that infernal thing you have for hair?"

"How dare you insult me in such a manner? You don't even know me and I don't know you."

"I'm Graham Pritchard and I'm assuming you're Hermione Granger."

"Who told you my name? Let me guess. Your aunt."

"Close, but no. Everyone in the Ministry knows you work as my aunt's secretary. Theodore Nott is the person who told me about you though, not my aunt."

"Well, I barely know Theodore Nott. He was a Slytherin wasn't he? So that would mean you're a Slytherin too."

"How did you guess that? Or are you just being your know it all self?"

Hermione rolled her eyes. "Go away Pritchard. I don't have time for you. I'm busy with work, which is more than I can say for you."

"Fine, I'll leave. I'll be back tomorrow though to further harass you on this matter."

"I would appreciate it if you didn't."

"Didn't you know, my dear, this is just the beginning?"

Hermione got up from her seat immediately and pointed at the door, motioning for Graham to leave. He did, but only after he vowed he would indeed return to bother her.
