share Calibre tips and templates and such

I've found this community incredibly helpful. I've been using Calibre for a while and with the FanFictionDownload plug-in it's really become an incredible tool for downloading and organizing fanfic. Love it. I read fic on Kindle 2 (my favorite Kindle of them all), Nook SimpleTouch Glow, and iPad as well as sometimes in Firefox on my laptop. I try to have both ePub and mobi files for all the fic.

While I know a lot, there are some things I haven't delved into much yet. I haven't generated covers for most fic, though the more I think about it the more I think having covers that indicate pairings with a graphic or text would be handy. Or just covers with some basic text on the front with the sort of data one needs to decide whether the fic is the one you're looking for.

I also haven't done much with style sheets. I create custom columns, but mostly just the ones that the Fanfic Downloader plug-in will populate. Plus Kindle Collection related ones. I'm sure there are some useful ones I haven't thought of yet, that would be helpful with organizing fanfic libraries.

I also want to automate the cleaning up of categories (so I don't have categories for Harry Potter, Harry Potter - J.K. Rowling, Harry Potter - Fandom and instead just have "Harry Potter") and possibly also of character names (some sites/authors use "Harry Potter" and others "Harry P." and it drives me nuts. Also standardizing pairings would be helpful so there aren't two different listings for say Harry Potter/Draco Malfoy and Draco Malfoy/Harry Potter). I know there are ways to do these things (other than using the Manage tools for categories) and I putter around trying to figure things out.

I figure lots of us are puttering around with the same sorts of problems or ideas. Figuring out how best to organize fanfic in Calibre. So maybe if we pool resources/templates/ideas, it will move things along quicker. If folks are willing to share. And I'm sure there are some people out there who are totally new to this or to Calibre that don't know all the nifty things it's capable of and would love to learn. (Heck, I've been using it for well over a year and I don't fully understand all the things it can do!)

So. Other people out there using Calibre: do you have any templates for covers you'd be willing to share? Any custom style sheets you use? Any plug-boards or custom columns you think rock? Are there things you always do to set up fanfic libraries in Calibre? (And do you use multiple libraries or keep all fic in one big one?)

I'm really curious about how people are using Calibre and publishing catalogs and so on and it'd be fun to share tips along those lines. I'll try to post a comment here soon with a list of the plug-ins I use and custom columns and any other fanfic-related tweaks I make to Calibre.
