Summary: As he stared at two bloodied corpses, Donald fell to his knees, and promptly threw up.

“Don’t move, Warden.” The ghoul snarled. Donald had cut it once, and twice with his blade, but it had fled, too fast, and he had pursued it.
What had he been thinking, not cutting it’s head off with the first strike?
But he hadn’t been sure…
The girl babbled as the ghoul tilted her head back, a knife to her throat, enough to draw a line of red blood down the blade. Donald felt cold, his hand tightening convulsively on his silver sword. He felt immediately out of his depth- only a rookie Warden could have made stupid mistake after stupid mistake.
“Let go of her!” He demanded, trying to mask his fear with anger. It did not work.
“You are fearful, Warden.” The ghoul said, face moving closer to the girl’s flesh, and Donald felt his heart quicken in horror.
“Fozare!” He shouted, slamming the ghoul back against the wall. The bricks buckled, and the ghoul snarled, but easily recovered. The dagger glittered, red in its hand and red was on its teeth.
Donald didn’t want to turn, to look at the girl. He knew the sight would haunt him for the rest of his life. A moment of weakness, and this was the cost.
The dagger slashed along his arm- he was a hair too slow, and blood flowed from his arm, and he thrust forward with his sword, forcing the ghoul back. He thrust his power downwards in a quick evocation, and the ground buckled and shuddered beneath its feet- weakening, slowing the ghoul.
Earth evocations had always been his speciality.
One swipe of his sword beheaded the ghoul.
