The crowd below roared with laughter and fun times. Smells of wine and cheese crossed on the air, teasing and tempting the young man who watched up above on the cliff that sat just above the village. He didn’t try and hide the growl in his stomach or the salvation in his mouth. The food seemed to become all the more appetizing as his body shook with need.
Hercules, supposed man of strength, watched in awe as each villager danced about the fire with no care in the world. Women giggled and poured wine to the chalices of men while they sat and shared stories of triumph with one another.
Though he wished to immense in such joyous time, he could not. Too many lives could be harmed if he stepped inside their walls of community. So many were after him, wanting his head on a spike and body thrown to Hades’ three headed pet.
He would not.
Pulling tightly the cloak that had sheltered him for many storms, he walked away from life. Embracing the darkness that had been caused by simple genetics.
