There she stood with just a towel wrapped around her. The steam from the hot shower caused her hair to be muddled all over her head. But to him she still was the most beautiful in her most natural state. He loved her when she didn’t have on any make-up. He thought she was the most magnificent woman he’d even since in her natural state.
“Damn wife, you’re so beautiful”, he spoke softly, trying not to startle her.
“What in the hell are you doing here Luke? Get out of her at once before I call the police!”
“Ah come on Tracy. I just want to talk to you”, he pleaded with her as she clutched the towel around her.
“I don’t want to hear what you have to say. I’ve heard enough already. And I’m tired of being your sloppy seconds when you can’t have ‘your angel’ around. I’m through with you and this marriage”, she huffed as she tried to reach for her robe which was lying across the bed.
Luke hurriedly snatched the robe from the bed before she could get it and held it behind his back.
“Give it back Luke and then get out!”
“No, not until you hear me out.”
Seeing that she had no choice in the matter she conceded-for now at least.
Luke made his way over to her, as she sat down on her side of the bed. He gingerly sat beside her, only with the utt most caution. He knew she was at her most defensive and he wanted to proceed in the safest manner possible.
She pushed her hair back in frustration and sulked. She was tired of this, and him. She didn’t know why she couldn’t just be done with him… And yet she knew the answer to that very question. She loved him like no other man but, she just wished she could believe he felt the same way as she did. Maybe he did and her pride wouldn’t let her see that but either way she wanted to be done with her hurt feelings. She hated feeling this way, and she hated him for making her feel this way. So why couldn’t she go through with the divorce. A fool she was…
“Spanky… Tracy, you are the only woman I want. You are second to no one. Yeah I know I’ve been a jerk…”
“Yeah, well that goes without saying.”
“Tracy”, he continued as he cupped her chin with her hand so that she could look into his eyes.
“I love you, only you. There is no one out there for me. My heart, my body, and my soul belong only to you. And that is a fact.”
She wanted to cry, but she held the tears back. She could feel everything inside of her shift and wanted to melt in his arms. But she held steadfast as her resolve wouldn’t let her.
“We are already divorced Luke. There’s no way around it”, she lied as her voice almost cracked, but she held steady.
“A paper doesn’t determine how much I love you or stops me from wanting you. I just want to be with you, and only you. And no paper will tell me otherwise.”
“So you aren't mad that I divorced you?”, she asked incredulously, at the same time nervous of his response.
“No I’m not fine with being divorced from you. But it won't stop me from loving you, or being with you. And it definitely won’t stop me from wanting to make love to you."
Luke caressed Tracy's face with his fingers and slowly leaned into his wife as he took her lips into his. Both wanted this more than anything. Even though Tracy led Luke to believe they were divorced she thought he would have given up on them by now. And in some ways she didn't want a divorce--matter of fact she didn't want a divorce at all. She just wanted to be with him. But how could she? She didn’t think she could ever believe that he would put her first over his ex-wife. How could she ever compete with her?
Her mind raced as Luke parted her lips with his tongue as his fingers tugged at the towel she was wearing. While leaning into the kiss Luke laid them down on the bed--as he took his jacket off and tossed it unto the floor.
Luke's eyes locked with hers as he reluctantly pulled back from their kiss. He Stared into her eyes while caressing her face for a few minutes without saying a word.
Finally he broke the silence between the two…
"You are the only one I want Spanky, married or divorced", he spoke softly as he smiled at her slightly.
"Luke", she spoke rather firmly as she suddenly sat up from the bed. "You should go. You made your choice and it's not meant for us to be together. I will always come second to you. And my heart can’t take that any longer. I can’t watch you chase after her any more.”
Tracy was more determined than ever to keep Luke away. And she was trying and saying anything to make him leave even though she didn't believe a lot of the things she was saying. She believed she had to break it off with him before he did it to her first. At least that’s what she wanted to believe before she went down to the Dominican Republic for the real thing without him ever knowing. It would be her secret. And he would be the none the wiser.
Luke shook his head at her as he followed behind her as she walked towards their bedroom door.
"You're wrong Tracy. You aren't second best. There was no choice to make any way because I she was never in the running", he said with desperation as he caught up with her from behind and grabbed her arm--swinging her around to meet his eyes.
He said the words that made her heart beat a thousand beats per minute and made her yearn for him more than ever.
"Give us one night Spanky. Just one night. Let me show you that you aren't second best. Let me make love to you and if you can walk away from me after that then I'll let you go. And you will never see me again. "
