Taylor was beautiful. Isaac loved Taylor. Like loved him more that anything else in the world. These were two things that Zac was sure of. He was also sure that Taylor loved Isaac just as much. It was in a different way they loved Zac.
He’d known forever that there was a difference. It used to bother him when he was younger. He’d think Ike liked Tay more than him. Tay always knew what to say and was quiet at all the right times. Zac couldn’t help it, he always had something to say (most of the time it was the wrong thing) and sometimes he knew he shouldn‘t have opened his mouth but he did. His mother would just say that he was energetic and smile, Ike said he was a pain but then would put him in a headlock or tickle him until he thought he’d pee. Tay would laugh and then go off with Ike somewhere where Zac couldn’t find them. He felt like he was being left out of something that was really important.
It wasn‘t until he got older that everything clicked. He didn’t know if he was paying attention more or if Tay and Ike were slipping. It was the looks they gave each other, the way Ike would brush Tay’s hair back off his face when they were talking. An outsider would never notice but they were brothers, they couldn’t really keep anything from each other. They didn’t have to come out and say it to Zac. He knew.
