This is where I welcome you to Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters. Consider yourself welcomed.
Now that the niceties have been disposed with we can move onto other , more pressing, concerns.
First and foremost this is a school. Our jobs here are to teach you. Yours are to learn. You are not here to become X-men, and your education will always be primarily academic. Physical training will occur, but in basic self-defense, martial arts, and how to control your abilities in order to assist you in the living of normal and productive lives.
Discipline: Yes, we have it. There are rules, and we expect you to obey them. If you do not there are consequences. Professor Xavier will be releasing a memo to both students and staff that will outline the specific rules of the campus, but in the meantime I'm afraid you will have to live with temporary measures.
Curfew is 10 p.m. on weeknights, midnight on weekends. At that time you are expected to be within the Mansion's walls and the front doors will be locked. If there is anyone not accounted for within one half hour of that time we will begin to search the area for the missing student. If they are not found within two hours the authorities will be called.
There are areas of the school that are off limits to students. Any area that is not a classroom or part of the living areas (living rooms, rec room, medical labs), requires the student be accompanied by a Professor to enter. This is not a joke, and it is not a challenge. The security around these areas of the Mansion is highly sophisticated and the areas house expensive and delicate equipment. If you are found there for any reason, without an escort, you will be warned and punished. A second infraction and you will be removed from the school.
There are people living within the Mansion who are neither students or staff. Please do not confuse them with your professors. I do not care how much Bobby protests, he is not authorized to accompany a student into any off limits area. Logan, Doctor McCoy, Professor Xavier, Professor Wagner, and myself are the only ones who will have that authority. and there will need to be a very good reason for us to use it.
Please locate the personal rooms of the Professors. If there is an emergency situation please do not hesitate. Find them immediately, regardless of time of day. In the unlikely event that there is such an event, you will follow instructions and remove yourself from danger.
An Emergency situation is the *only* circumstance that Non-staff residents of the Mansion will have the authority to issue orders to you. See point one: You are not X-men. They are. You are children. Do not get in our way and risk your life and the lives of those around you. Simply do as you are told and do it immediately.
Beyond these specific things all we expect is you act like young adults. This is your home, and the home of the faculty, staff, administration, and others who reside here, either temporarily or otherwise. Treat the house, grounds, and inhabitants with respect, and we will extend the same courtesy to you.
Each new student needs to contact me over the next week in order to be assigned their key point teacher, as well as alerting me to any medical, academic, personal, or other concerns or special needs you may have.
If something pressing requires immediate attention, please contact a staff member.
