Summary: Trust is broken, and all that is left are shattered pieces.

A sharp intake of breath, his body freezes and yet loosens at the same time, as he feels the glass of water slip from his hands. He stares ahead, seeing nothing and yet seeing everything, with a clear clarity that makes his head hurt. There is an almost painful silence around him, but within him he can hear his mind, his heart, his entire being shattering like glass.
He feels like he has no emotion left as the two gather their bunched up clothes on the floor. Someone stands before him, but he can’t see who because everyone is so cloudy now, not clear anymore. Bringing a hand to his eye, he gasps, startled when something wet meets his fingers. He didn’t know he had started crying.
Whoever is in front of him is shaking him, saying words to him, but he can’t hear them. The shattering is growing louder and louder each second, every wall of his glass defense breaking.
He hears another voice, then sees another face, but he still feels nothing. Curiously, he wipes his eyes of tears, and he is almost astounded when his vision becomes clear.
He sees Kevin first, then Nick. Their eyes are wide with worry, their frantic mouths moving with fear.
He recognizes those emotions, feeling them stir inside of him. His body begins to heat, like a boiling kettle.
He feels his insides whistling with steam, and he feels his fist colliding with Kevin’s jaw. Nick grabs his arm and begins yelling at him, tears leaking from his eyes. He can’t hear the words, even though Nick is literally shouting in his face. It’s as if he’s wearing ear plugs, but these ones are made of fury, not foam.
Pushing Nick away from him with a strength he didn’t know he possessed, he approaches Kevin.
“I trusted you.”
The words are just a whisper, but the impact is strong. Kevin is crying, but he says nothing. Nick’s words are quieting down too, before he also becomes mute. Through their quietness, he can feel his words rising with not only volume, but with hurt.
“I trusted you! I trusted you and loved you!”
He is crying again, the tears hot and heavy against his cheeks. He can see his anguish in their saddened eyes, and is glad to know it hurts them.
“BASTARD!”
He tries to pound his fists against Kevin’s chest, but his shaking shoulders make it difficult to coordinate.
“You told me you LOVED me! YOU PROMISED FOREVER!”
His fists are just resting against Kevin now, his sobs are far too powerful to even move them away. Kevin reaches a hand towards him though, and he jumps away, as if Kevin is a deadly fire.
“DON’T EVER TOUCH ME AGAIN!”
“Joe-” Nick begins to say, but he interrupts him, painfully. He can feel the crunch of Nick’s nose as his fist collides with it, can feel the gush of blood on his fingers.
Finally, he smiles, as Kevin fusses over Nick, who is holding the edge of his t-shirt to his nose.
